Safety Trainer*

Key Duties & Responsibilities: *
- Deliver onboard training; _regulatory compliances such as confined space entry, fall arrest, air quality testing, tackle testing and inspection, PPE inspection, MBFA and MAFA (preferred) and other courses the employees may be certified in and support company objectives_
- Assures each vessel training session is tailored to the crew onboard for compliance training and meets the company’s goals of building operational safety IQ and a positive, proactive outlook to operational safety
- Working collaboratively with Operations and Technical; utilizes the expertise of the department(s) to gain a high and consistent standard of safety related training and performance across the fleet -_pertaining to compliance and safety training_
- Collaborates with the ORM Manager and onboard committee chairs, to implement, train, and facilitate all onboard MOSH programs and company initiatives regarding safety culture.
- Continuous effort towards fostering departmental training goals with fleet towards the company’s multi-year mission statement for ORM
- Assure ORM tracks CAR’s for timeliness, thoroughness through to documentation of all training, lessons learned and awareness initiatives that come from any CAR.
- Ensures all safety correspondence from the fleet is followed up in a timely manner; read, filed and action items are completed
- Liaison with Transport Canada Marine Safety on MOSH regulations
- Process training onboard for effective meetings, inspections, audits, safety observations, lessons learned training from corrective actions etc
- Reviews and analyzes hazard assessment cards
- Directs Toolbox talks
- Supports the maintenance and continuous improvement of management systems, specifically all HSE, ISM, ISO related systems and processes.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

**Minimum Qualification, Skills and Competencies**:

- Certified trainer in - _F_ederal regulations; _Confined Space Entry Gas Detection & Air Quality testing, Fall Arrest_
- Accident Investigation/ Root cause analysis
- Auditing capabilities in the Federal HSE environment considered to be an asset
- Test Tackle equipment considered an asset
- Lifesaving equipment considered an asset
- Experience within Marine industry is considered an asset
- Marine Basic / Advanced trainer considered an asset

**Working Conditions/Special Notes**:

- Travel to company vessels required
- Approx. 120 days at sea and 120 days off
- Equal time on/off when working at sea
- Remaining four months related to shoreside training and ORM support
- _One week vacation in this period_
- Overtime hours may be required from time to time based on operational demand.
