The Security Analyst supports and maintains the University’s information security management program and environment, including development, deployment, and use of information security solutions, as well as planning and implementation of information security-related projects. The Security Analyst administers, implements, and supports cybersecurity standard operating procedures, vulnerability management, and manages security infrastructures such as Arctic Wolf managed services, Hyper-V infrastructure for security scanning, and CrowdStrike for servers. The Analyst also participates actively in identity management initiatives, including the deployment and maintenance of middleware solutions such as Midpoint server integrations with Active Directory and Azure AD. The Security Analyst will collaborate closely with the Associate Director, Information Security, and internal IT teams to deliver comprehensive cybersecurity technical support across the University, including contributing to the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies and procedures.

**Typical Duties Include**:

- Assists and advises the Associate Director, Cybersecurity in the development, maintenance and implementation of cybersecurity related University policies and standards. Leads the implementation of cybersecurity related strategies in alignment with the University’s strategic objectives and priorities.
- Maintains and implements technical security controls and processes in support of the University’s Information Security Management System.
- Administers local and cloud-based security configurations and group policies, including Microsoft 365 Security and Compliance Centre.
- Acts as a cybersecurity technical expert for the ITS team, supporting system design, security patch management, system log reviews, identity management integrations (Midpoint), scripting (PowerShell), user account management, and performance monitoring.
- Maintains and supports cybersecurity management infrastructure, collaborates, and coordinates with infrastructure teams for server, storage, and network setup.
- Keeps current with cybersecurity developments and current/emerging issues and provides expert guidance to relevant parties across the organization.
- Provides support for developing information security awareness training materials for the community.
- Assists in providing threat, risk, and privacy impact analysis for various local and cloud-based systems.
- Monitors and maintains the security and integrity of all IT systems, communication channels, and data, including confidential and privileged information. Provides confidential security intelligence used to support HR and legal in disciplinary or grievance proceedings, if needed.
- Maintains access to secured systems, confidential data, and user accounts, including high-profile accounts such as the President’s. In an emergency, in consultation with the CIO and with approval of the President or their surrogate, may override access and revoke security permissions for any user.
- Supports the Privacy Officer in preparing Privacy Impact Assessments for University systems.
- Implements controls related to malware, spam, phishing, unauthorized system access, security system policies, user, and computer accounts and multi-domain IT vulnerability management.
- Monitors and responds to information security related service requests.
- Maintains up-to-date documentation in appropriate formats.
- Performs other related duties as required.

**Required Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- Minimum five years’ technical experience in information security.
