**Job Posting: Project Controller**
**Location**: Edmonton, Alberta
**Schedule**: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
**Pay**: $20-$30/hr
**Job Purpose**
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Project Controller to join our team. In this role, you will be crucial in overseeing and managing the financial aspects of projects. You will track budgets, analyze project costs, and ensure financial objectives are met. Your responsibilities will include preparing financial reports, providing insights to support decision-making, and maintaining effective project accounting systems. Your efforts will contribute to the overall success of the project by optimizing financial performance.
**Roles and Responsibilities**
- Provide forward-looking financial information to Project Managers/Coordinators.
- Collaborate with Project Leads and Department Managers as required.
- Track ongoing commitments and upcoming financial deadlines.
- Finalize project billings periodically as outlined in each contract, and communicate triggers for billings to Project Managers/Coordinators.
- Work closely with the project team to maintain current status of issues and changes.
- Review and track change order costs, escalating issues to the Project Manager as needed.
- Ensure change orders are signed off/approved by the client.
- Create and analyze monthly Project Health reports, presenting financial findings during one-on-one meetings with key stakeholders to maintain cost control.
- Review month-end Work In Progress (WIP) reports and liaise with project leads.
- Compare project contracts with bids and work with estimators.
- Develop and manage invoicing templates for projects, ensuring timely billing with key stakeholders.
- Provide financial insight to help set project budgets based on bid information.
- Offer monthly forecasts to clients.
- Track rework costs and verify cost coding on timesheets and purchase orders.
- Review project financial commitments, escalating issues as necessary.
- Track financial logistics and verify accuracy of client-issued change orders and purchase orders against internal records.
- Coordinate with accounts receivable and payable to meet financial deadlines.
- Collaborate with the Director of Finance to review and report financial data.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Post-secondary training preferred.
- Experience working in a fast-paced environment with evolving needs.
- Industry-specific trade training is an asset.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam is an asset.
- CSTS-2020 certification required.
- WHMIS certification required.
**Skills**
- Strong analytical, attention-to-detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
**Working Conditions**
- Office environment with moderate noise.
- May require walking stairs, being outside in inclement weather, carrying objects, driving, and exposure to normal office routines.
**Physical Requirements**
- Close visual acuity for preparing and analyzing data, transcribing, and extended computer use.
- Ability to stand and sit for extended periods.
Pay: $20.00-$30.00 per hour
