To provide blacksmithing support for architectural ironwork projects including site measurements, hot metal forge work, assembly of forged components/parts and installation of finished ironwork.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Shape hot metal using forging and other blacksmithing equipment including gas and coal forges, anvil and hammer, fly press, hydraulic press, power hammers, swage and mandrel.
- Hammer, punch, chisel, bend, cut, press, twist or otherwise form hot metal into required tools, devises, or architectural elements.
- Assembly of ironwork by traditional methods including, clips, ball joinery, riveting, collaring, and forge welding.
- Forge blacksmith tools or devise dies, jigs or fixings.
- Record accurate site measurements including creating templates, calculating slopes and angles for stair railings and reading plan drawings.
- Assist with site installation of finished ironwork, requires valid Driver's License.
- Other related duties, as required.
**Minimum Education and Experience**:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Blacksmith Apprenticeship or equivalent years of experience.
- Minimum 5 years experience on forge and anvil.
- Minimum 2 years working with power hammers and hot forge.
- One ( 1 ) year architectural ironwork experience.
**Skills/Knowledge and Physical Capabilities**:
- Able to read plan drawings for the purpose of creating elemental templates.
- Knowledge of trigonometry.
- Excellent communication skills, accurate, attention to detail, client focus, team player, organized.
- Standing for extended periods, physically demanding, lifting, bending, crouching, kneeling.
**Salary Range**:
- $25.00 - $30.00 per hour commensurate with experience and based on forty (40) hours per week.
**Work Environment**:
- Exposure to heat, dust, noise, odours, outdoors, at heights.
- Lifting a minimum of 25 kg (approximately 55 lbs).
