**Responsibilities**:
OVERALL PURPOSE:
The Escalator / Elevator Labourer will assist a Technician or Serviceperson in the maintenance and repair of elevators and escalators.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1) Works under the direction of a Supervisor, Technician, or Serviceperson to accomplish scheduled or unscheduled maintenance of elevators or escalators.

2) Assists with the preparation and organization of parts and materials.

3) Cleaning of all elevator or escalator components as directed.

4) Operates motor vehicles with a valid B.C. driver’s license.

5) Uses hand and power tools where required and directed.

6) Attends technical and safety training as required.

7) Responds to emergencies in accordance with established procedures through immediate response and quick action.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS

As per WorkSafeBC regulations, this job requires an annual fit test and may necessitate the use of a respirator. In either case, the employee must be clean shaven. Any exemption requests should be raised to Occupational Health and/or Labour Relations for consideration.

**Qualifications**:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Grade 10 or equivalent;
Possession of a valid BC Class 5 Driver's License;

**Other Information**:
Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

**Work Schedule**:
40 hours per week.

This position works predominately on-site

**Rate of Pay**:
Wage: $37.40 per hour
