The French Innovation, Education Programs and Services division provides leadership, coordination, and support in the development of quality French First Language, French Immersion, and Core French curricula, as well as support services and resources for teachers and students from kindergarten to Grade 12. The division also provides opportunities for teachers and students to promote French education. This position is responsible for carrying out the Department's responsibilities in the area of Language Arts from Grade 7 to Grade 12 for French first language schools.
**Duties will include but are not limited to**:
- Reviewing French Language Arts curriculum for French First Language students for Grades 7-12;
- Providing on‑going support for the teaching of the French Language Arts program for French First Language students in Grades 7-12, including the support for the recently developed Oral Language Continuum project;
- Offering « Literacy 101 » training and support to new teachers;
- Evaluating learning resources to accompany Language Arts program including software, various media, web sites as well as print materials;
- Serving as a resource person regarding current trends, developments and issues in Language Arts;
- Ordering and keeping authorized materials list up to date;
- Representing the province's francophone sector on provincial and national committees to bring input on various initiatives;
- Working cooperatively with other consultants on projects and activities which are part of the Department's priorities;
- Providing advice to the Director on issues and priorities pertaining to French Language Arts; and
- Performing other related duties as required.
**Minimum Qualifications**:
- Applicants must have a Bachelor Degree in Education, preferably at the Master's level with emphasis on curriculum theory, and must hold or be eligible to hold a PEI Teacher's certificate level 5 or higher.
- Considerable teaching experience in French First language at the secondary level.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in both official languages are required.
- Experience in leading teachers at all levels of the Public Education System.
- Must have a good previous attendance and work record.
- Successful applicant must provide a satisfactory criminal record check prior to beginning employment.
**Other Qualifications**:
- Additional relevant education and experience will be considered an asset.
