Technology Lead

Scrawlr is looking for a full-time **Technology Lead**.

**Description**

Scrawlr will provide users with a communication platform that will turn any site, content, or topic into an opportunity for unconstrained conversation. The **Technology Lead** will develop the Scrawlr Social Network product and actively support growth of the Scrawlr development team. The long-term intent of this role is to become a leading technical executive of Scrawlr as it scales.

As the Technology Lead, you will perform a broad range of essential functions, including overall architecture planning, internal software development and leading a small team. You will also support project planning and direct ongoing full-stack team development tasks.

Scrawlr is a company building a software platform and series of products dedicated to enabling alternative forms of communication layered on existing internet content, together with delivering superior monetization flexibility and content ownership for content generators.

The founder, board of directors, and lead investors in Scrawlr have a strong background in a variety of successful, transformational startups, and we are building our platform alongside a number of other startups within a successful ecosystem. We are looking forward to bringing on additional like-minded individuals as we drive towards the Jauntr product launch.

**Compensation**

115k - $125k per annum plus an equity position in the Portfolio Company for being one of the first team members

**Responsibilities**
- Build the API connection layer for front-end components
- Mentor and lead a small/medium sized team
- Meaningfully contribute to product planning, project management tasks and overall company development
- Handle task creation, task breakdown, and distribution
- Improve our infrastructure and continuously improve our Full-stack Team

**Desired skills or experience**
- Five (5) years of work experience in a development agency or company development environments
- One (1) year of experience working on Vue.js framework or similar
- Experience leading small to midsize multi product backend teams with demonstrated ability to mentor, grow team members as well as provide technical guidance and oversight on implementation direction
- Experience designing RESTful API and microservices architecture
- Good understanding Postgres (SQL) and Redis (In-memory DB), or similar
- Knowledge of API/microservices authentication/security flows (JWT, OAuth and similar)
- Solid experience with debugging and identifying performance bottlenecks
- Solid analytical and problem-solving mindset combined with experience troubleshooting large scale systems
- Solid understanding of building scalable, high performing systems and services

**Nice to have skills or experience**
- Experience working in start-up environments
- Experience building and maintaining standalone UI components
- PWA project experience
- In-depth knowledge of Linux systems (specifically Ubuntu/Alpine)
- Expertise with big data, analytics, machine learning, and data personalisation
- GitHub profile with sample projects you would like to showcase
