Northern Gateway Public Schools is inviting applications from accomplished, visionary leaders who are interested in joining Northern Gateway Public Schools in the following position: Principal at Twilight and Homeland Colony School August 2025 Reporting directly to the Superintendent of Schools, principals are members of a team of skilled, committed, talented and progressive educators in an environment of site-based decision making.The Principalship to be filled, Twilight and Homeland Colony Schools, is located 50 KM north of Valleyview, Alberta.Twilight Colony School has a student population of 41, currently supported by two full-time teachers.Homeland Colony School has a student population of 28, currently supported by the full-time Principal/Teacher and an additional 1.6 full-time Teachers.The successful candidate will: advocate for and facilitate educational programming that emphasizes learning through engagement problem solving, collaboration, decision-making, hands-on and inquiry; collaborate with the school support team, staff and Central Administration to incorporate the latest research and best practices regarding education;have experience working with English as a Second Language learners, preferred;have an understanding of or experience in Hutterite teachings and culture, preferred; work with Central Administration and the two school staffs to facilitate the vision of the School Advancement Plan;based on Inclusive Education practices, demonstrate a commitment to student learning and success through a focus on curriculum-instruction-assessment and the new Teaching Quality Standard;have a background in literacy for developing learners, struggling readers and adolescents;have a background in numeracy with the incorporation of manipulatives;experience with and application of Fountas and Pinnell Benchmarking and Literacy Continuum is an asset;have successful elementary and/or junior high teaching experience;have experience in teaching fine arts or physical education;have successful school-based leadership experience, preferred; demonstrate outstanding communication and interpersonal skills andhave a related Master Degree or be enrolled in, with a specified completion date.Preference will be given to applicants who have demonstrated excellence in the nine leadership dimensions outlined in The Leadership Quality Standard: Fostering Effective RelationshipsModeling Commitment to Professional LearningEmbodying Visionary LeadershipLeading a Learning CommunitySupporting the Application of Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Metis and InuitProviding Instructional LeadershipDeveloping Leadership CapacityManaging School Operations and ResourcesUnderstanding and Responding to the larger Societal ContextPlease submit an electronic application, which must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, statement of educational philosophy and names/positions/telephone contact information for three recent professional references, to: Human Resources Email: hr@ngps.caOffice: 780-778-2800 If shortlisted, applicants must bring to the interview a Release of Results of Vulnerable Sector Check that is current within three (3) months.The competition will remain open until a suitable candidate is found.
