The Private Capital team is responsible for building a diversified private markets business, focused on significant growth opportunities in private credit, private equity, and real assets. Building on AGF’s existing private markets experience and current [$2B] of AUM, this team is tasked with developing and implementing a long-term strategic plan to build a private markets business that will stand alongside AGF’s public markets business and expand the client service and value proposition.

Designed to be nimble and forward thinking, the team will operate with a flat structure and shared responsibility, with each team member working across a variety of tasks and leveraging AGF’s breadth of resources.

About the Role:
This is a great opportunity to expand on your business development and investment knowledge by working with a small but growing team to build and support both the relationship origination and value creation efforts of AGF’s growing private markets practice. In this role, you will leverage your strong analytical and communication skills to help drive the successful growth of AGF Private Capital. Within a small team and dynamic environment, the Associate will be involved in a wide variety of tasks and will have the opportunity to grow their responsibility rapidly. The Associate is a multi-functional role working across AGF Private Capital’s two main functional areas; i) Business Development & Strategy and ii) Portfolio Operations & Value Creation.

Your Responsibilities:

- Support Private Capitals Business Development and Strategy principal by:

- Actively participating in the origination, due-diligence and execution of strategic investments and M&A activity with private markets asset managers
- Conducting analysis to support the evaluation of strategic areas/sectors for growth of the AGF Private Capital platform
- Leading financial modelling and analytics on new deals
- Preparing investment approval materials for senior management and the Board of Directors
- Support Private Capital’s Portfolio Operations and Value Creation principal with:

- The onboarding of new affiliate managers and ongoing day-to-day operational interactions with our affiliates
- Providing support and guidance to other AGF functions in the operations of Private Capital products
- The evaluation of operational synergies and business improvement opportunities across AGF Private Capital and our affiliates
- Coordinating with AGF’s product development and sales teams on new private capital product ideas through the development cycle
- Keep current on economic marks trends and events which could impact investment decisions and lead the general research function for the Private Capital team

Your Qualifications:

- Foundational knowledge of the investment industry, typically gained through a combination of relevant academic studies and 2+ years’ industry experience in asset management, investment banking, consulting, corporate strategy, and similar areas.
- Undergraduate or graduate degree within a relevant discipline
- Strong analytical and research skills
- Excellent communication skills and presence
- Knowledge of valuation and financial modeling and expertise in Excel
- Self-motivated, results driven and able to work independently
- Team-player, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
