Driver (Ft)

Opportunity Bridal is a pop-up bridal shop based out of Kitchener, but doing one-day sales events at hotels and other venues throughout Canada. **Requirements**:

- Must be 25 years of age or older (insurance requirement), current Ontario “G” driver’s license,
- Clean driving record for the past five years.
- A class AR (A - Restricted) license is required within 6 months of initial hire to continue. An AR license allows a driver to tow more than 4,600kg allowed under the G license and is necessary when making the initial drive to Western Canada. The cost of acquiring the license will be covered by Opportunity

This position acts as a customer service rep with hotels and suppliers and therefore must present themselves with a clean, neat appearance with positive

communication skills.

Bridal and it will also result in a pay increase effectively the AR license or higher is presented.

**Driving duties include**:

- Ability to drive a truck towing a 26’ trailer. Able to back up and park into loading docks and other sometimes space limited spaces.
- Drive on all types or roads and highways throughout Canada
- Ability to work days, evenings, nights and weekends as our show schedule requires
- Maintenance of vehicles, cleanliness, keep records etc.

**Setup duties include**:

- Setup typically takes two people no more than 3 hours to complete but is dependent on the room size, distance from the trailer to the room location and if an elevator is required to access our venue
- While we try to gain access to allow for setup upon our arrival, most of our contracts are written to provide us access by 4am at the latest for a weekday event since the venue may have a booking the night before and still have to prepare the room for us during the night. Currently about 40% of
- our venues require an early morning setup and we predict this could go to 50% as venues have a lot of booking demand as a result of previous Covid restrictions.
- Loading/unloading of truck and trailer for Sales Events
- Setup the room for the Sales room which includes things like: creating a show layout on the spot and setting up pop up change rooms, check in counter, placing and spacing display racks, products and signage.
- Packing up the display items and loading them back into our trailer
- Communicate with other team members and review with sales team if layout improvement or other suggestions could lead to be better setup in the future.
- As well, the driver may assist in other duties when not driving.

**Running Errands**
- Pickup inventory or suppliers from suppliers
- Help in the warehouse; Loading, Unloading, Sorting, Pricing and Hanging garments; repairing show display items or equipment; spot cleaning garments

**Physical requirements of the job**:

- Able to reach overhead 7’ (generally this means minimum height is about 5’10”)
- Physically fit and able to stand for extended periods of time - setup is all done standing
- Able to lift and carry minimum 80 lbs.
- Able to read English at grade 8 level or above
- Ability to drive a Truck towing a Trailer
- Able to go up and down ladders

**Sample Schedule**
- The below schedule is a sample of an average show weekend which is about 25 hours and will require you to be away from home from Friday to late Sunday.

**A typical schedule will consist of the following with the driving hour’s variable by the actual city location and traffic**:

- Friday - Drive to location A - 5 hours
- Friday - Unload and Setup - 3 hours
- Saturday - Pack up and load display - 2 hours
- Saturday - Drive to location B - 3 hours
- Saturday - Unload and Setup - 3 hours
- Sunday - Pack up and load display - 2 hours
- Sunday - Drive to Home - Kitchener - 5 hours

In addition, we sometimes run weekday events while out of province and on some Monday’s. Monday events involve driving to the city after the event on Sunday and either returning home following the event.

**Contract Period**
- Opportunity Bridal operates as a season business with sales events happening from Mid-July to Early December (FALL) and Mid-January - Early June (Spring). Employment contracts run for the seasonal period only. We will look to rehire successful employees in subsequent seasons as well as conduct a compensation review prior to the start of the new season to ensure our compensation package remains fair and attractive to both parties.

**Compensation**
- The rate of pay for the position is a set rate per event based on the distance. Venues within 500km of Kitchener are paid at $350 per event and venues exceeding 500km are paid at $500 per event. While exact hours due to traffic and other delays is difficult to predict, based on drive times, loading and unloading times without delay the rate of pay is slightly over $40 per hour but mid t
