**Housing Outreach Coordinator**

**Compensation: $23/hr**

**Two-year contract with possible extension**

**Purpose of Job**

**REST Bridge of Hope program is a host-home program, in which members of the community provide living spaces to youth in need of immediate housing. The purpose of the program is to prevent youth homelessness by offering an alternative to an emergency shelter. The underlying goal is to situate youth in an environment where they feel welcomed, safe, supported and loved. The program trains Landlords across the Region of Peel so they are ready and able to take youth at risk of or experiencing homelessness into their homes on a short term and/or long-term basis. The Host Home Coordinator will support youth by sourcing and training host families who will provide short and long-term housing options within Peel.**

**Key Responsibilities**
- **The Housing Outreach Coordinator (HOC) is responsible for engaging with youth experiencing homelessness and providing support services to assist in finding permanent, safe, and suitable housing.**
- **Creating case plans with clients based on their needs and in a trauma-informed capacity.**
- **Conduct housing searches and build inventory lists of available housing units for youth.**
- **Liaise with property managers, landlords, realtors, and other sources to identify and secure vacant properties for youth placement.**
- **Assertively engage with participants to secure housing including unit rental, damage deposits, securing income assistance if required, setting up of utilities, signing of leases, and arranging for furnishings and household items to establish their homes. Ensure appropriate handoff to other agency support teams/programs.**
- **Works with Youth Case Manager(s) to meet and train landlords and provides continuous support to landlords in the program.**
- **Coordinate and attend initial appointment with youth and landlord to ensure suitable match**
- **Assess youth need for Bridge of Hope starter pack**
- **Performs routine check-ins with landlords and youth to ensure a comfortable environment; ensure that youth stays as expected or resolve any issues that may have arisen; and provide any additional information and support, as needed, including quarterly reviews.**
- **Document all activities and outcomes in accordance with the organization's wrap-around model. Provide regular reports and updates on progress with participants, housing placements, and retention.**

**Program Plan Development, Marketing, and Implementation**:

- **Marketing, outreach, and promotion of programs to landlords in the community.**
- **Promotes the public relations activities of the program and is aware of the public relations activities of the organization.**
- **Works to ensure program success, while positively contributing to REST as an organization.**
- **Perform other responsibilities as required.**

**Salary**: From $23.00 per hour
