**About the Role**
K’ómoks First Nation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounting Clerk to support the Finance Department with a wide range of accounting and payroll responsibilities.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this position plays a key role in processing financial transactions, preparing reports, maintaining records, and assisting with audits, compliance filings, and employee payroll support.
**What You’ll Do**
- Maintain accurate financial records and reconcile banking files and reports
- Process accounts receivable/payable and monthly invoices for rent, utilities, etc.
- Administer bi-weekly payroll and related adjustments, including employee inquiries
- Prepare records of employment (ROEs), T4s, and Receiver General filings
- Serve as plan administrator and liaison for group benefits and pension plans
- Support property tax cycle and financial audit preparation
- Track and reconcile monthly expenses and revenues
- Prepare bank deposits and credit card transactions
- Maintain financial policies, procedures, and organized filing systems
- Support new employee onboarding and payroll file setup
- Ensure compliance with WCB, OSFI, and EAHOR reporting requirements
- Take minutes for Financial Advisory Committee meetings
- Assist with various administrative and clerical financial tasks as needed
**What You Bring**
- Diploma or certificate in accounting or bookkeeping (required)
- 5+ years of direct accounting or bookkeeping experience
- PCP (Payroll Compliance Professional) Designation from the National Payroll Institute (required)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Word) and financial software (e.g., Xyntax, Sage Intacct, etc.)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness of First Nations governance and community dynamics
- Experience working in and with Indigenous communities is preferred
