**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Enhance and build upon the organization’s emergency management plan and ensures it is compliant with the local, provincial, federal laws and industry regulations (where required).
- Prepare emergency management training for staff and management, including exercises.
- Create strategic relationships with all stakeholders possibly involved in an emergency, such as government agencies, community groups, employees, volunteers, and private organizations.

**ACCOUNTABILITY**
- The Emergency Planning Coordinator is under the day-to-day supervision of Research Director and accountable to the Executive Director, the Chiefs and Council. This position will also hold a position on the Emergency Response Team.

**COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS**
- Related program and experiences or possess a post-secondary degree or diploma in health and safety.
- First Nations health and safety experience considered an asset.
- Proven emergency preparedness skills (prevention, mitigation, preparedness, and response).
- Knowledge of the six (6) First Nations communities KO services.
- Ability to speak any of KO community dialects is considered an asset.
- Able to build working relationships with First Nation communities and partners.
- Hold a valid Ontario Driver’s License, have access to a reliable vehicle and the ability to travel. Travel to the First Nation communities is by small aircraft.
