Lead Hand/cnc Machine Operator

**What you will do**:

- Set up CNC mills and lathes for production runs of parts
- Assist CNC Programmer with the maintenance of set up sheets (tool descriptions, offsets, etc.)
- Perform initial trouble shooting on machining, part and tool issues, with assistance from Maintenance Superintendent or CNC Programmer when needed
- Ensure that machined parts produced on site are of the highest standard of quality
- Provide job specific training to employees new to the Machine Shop
- Operate and maintain a variety of machining tools, including CNC machines
- Machine parts to required specifications
- Measure parts to confirm that they comply with specifications
- Perform quality inspection of parts produced
- Keep machines and work area clean while maintaining a safe work environment
- Work safely and follow company Health & Safety policies and procedures
- Monitor and promote health and safety in the Machine Shop; ensure that employees work safety
- Report workplace hazards and report observed safety violations to the Machine Shop Manager
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Qualifications Required Are**:

- 3-5 year(s) of work experience in a CNC machining environment in a production facility
- Sound working knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing
- Strong mathematical skills including a sound understating of geometry and trigonometry; and an ability to read blueprints and CAD data
- Strong computer skills: experience working with Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Outlook, and Word. Previous experience working with an ERP or inventory system is considered an asset
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills required. Experience with root cause analysis an asset
- Experience with the use of precision measuring equipment: Micrometers, vernier, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.
- High level of detail accuracy, manual dexterity, and hand-eye co-ordination
- Ability to work in a team environment or independently, set priorities and multitask
- Reliable / dependable - excellent attendance and punctuality record
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to promote and cultivate a health and safety culture
- Forklift certification is considered an asset
- Ability and availability to work extended hours as required.
- Ability to work in a factory climate with cold/hot working conditions

**Salary**: $18.00-$22.00 per hour
