You'll have completed the Health Care Assistant program and possess certifications in Medication Administration, Food Safe Level 1, General WHMIS, and Emergency First Aid. Registration with the Care Aide Registry of British Columbia is a requirement. While previous experience in Gerontology is beneficial, it is not mandatory.

**About The Role**

You’ll meet the needs of the residents by providing support for their activities of daily living. You’ll be responsible for delivering individualized care with a personable, efficient, and diligent approach. Effective communication of resident progress, attendance, and changes in physical and cognitive functioning is essential. As an ambassador of Baptist Housing, you will exemplify exceptional interpersonal skills and maintain positive relationships with residents, team members, families, and partners. You’ll assist with admissions, discharges, and transfers and ensure residents settle in comfortably. Your role also includes assisting residents in maintaining their independence by providing personal care such as bathing, dressing, and hygiene while respecting their dignity and privacy. You’ll implement individualized care plans, perform designated procedures and tasks within your scope of practice, administer medication under nurse supervision, and maintain updated clinical records. Additionally, you’ll assist with meal service and laundry, accompany residents to activities, and contribute to quality and care improvement programs. You will also identify and report any concerns or changes in residents' well-being. Participation in care planning and team meetings will be expected, along with staying informed through team communication channels. You may also perform clerical duties and contribute to the orientation and training of new resident assistants. Professional development through attendance at meetings, in-services, and continuing education sessions is encouraged while prioritizing health and safety in the workplace by promoting a culture of safety, identifying hazards, and adhering to safe practices.
