Main Functional Activities Include:
A Journeyperson 1 position recognizes the individuals license in the Trade and recognizes his/her excellence in the various crafts of the trade. A Journeypersons’s primary function is to support the needs of the project as identified by the Field Manager or a Journeyperson 2. A Journeyperson is responsible for the execution of trade work in a safe, professional and efficient manner. A JP1 may be responsible to train and support Apprentices or other Journeyperson as directed by their Supervisor. Duties will include, but not limited to, plumbing, pipe fitting, cutting, coring, digging and trenching, measuring, layout, paperwork, and other similar tasks. A Journeyperson may, depending on the project staffing, also be responsible for other field duties as requested by their superior and can include items such as housekeeping, caulking, filing, organizing, receiving, material delivery to the work areas, etc.

Performance Expectations

General Expectations:

- In addition to the Safety Training provided by the company, will proactively continue to learn and understand the requirements of Health and Safety legislation and MML safety policies through recommended reading provided by HR.
- Will continually review and understand their duties as “Supervisor” in the context of the Ontario Ministry of Labour legislation.
- Will act to warn or rectify any unsafe conditions.
- Will Supervise other Apprentices or Journeyperson when directed, in a manner consistent with Ministry of Labour and MML requirements.
- Is Punctual and Flexible with respect to the project requirements.
- Will review, understand, and follow all MML policies
- Will work with and maintain positive working relationships with fellow employees, management, the Client, and any other trades and authorities they meet.

Specific Expectations:

- Work can be carried out at various locations including construction sites, owner facilities, tenant facilities, and within MML facilities
- Receive and carry out work based on general instructions from their Supervisor
- A JP1 will ask questions to ensure they fully understand the scope prior to starting the work.
- Will concentrate on their work and ensure it is executed in a safe and professional manner, taking into account the safety of their helper(s) or other trades around them
- Will deliver professional quality work consistent with their Trade and within the allotted time frame defined by their Supervisor.
- Will provide technical guidance to those with less experience in a professional manner
- Will ensure that all necessary administrative and project related paperwork is being filled out accurately and in a timely fashion
- As required, will communicate with other trades and the client to ensure smooth coordination of the work
- Will proactively continue to upgrade trade skills, and technical understanding of building systems Skill Qualifications
- Licensing / Red Seal in their specific trade and a member in “Good Standing” within their trade organization
- Driver’s License in good standing
- General MML in house training as specified for Apprentices and Journeyperson. (Note that these must be completed within 2 years of hiring unless otherwise directed by management)
