Saffron Centre, located in Sherwood Park, is hiring a full-time Specialized Criminal Justice Navigator to join our Police and Court Support Program team.

Saffron is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing compassionate and specialized counselling, preventative education, and police and court advocacy for those impacted by sexual assault, abuse, and exploitation.

As a Specialized Criminal Justice Navigator, you are an essential part of our Police and Court team, guiding clients through police reporting, investigative, and criminal justice processes. You will facilitate their access to Saffron’s services and assist them with navigating legal and mental health supports and resources.

**General Information**

This position reports directly to the Director of Justice, Research and Outreach (“Director, JRO”).

**Responsibilities**
- Police and Court Support_
- Provide accurate information and trauma-informed support to individuals of all ages thinking about/already engaged with investigative and criminal justice systems.
- Organize and attend police interviews as a professional advocate and set up satellite interviews in the Organization’s space, acting as a Monitor for police who arrive without additional support.
- Liaise and maintain relationships with major criminal justice partners, including but not limited to Crown Prosecution, Police Agencies, Victim Service Units, and other Community Agencies.
- Update client files in the Izzy Client Management System daily and inform clients of status updates regarding criminal investigations and court proceedings.
- Create and revise workflows, program forms, and templates for the JRO department.
- Co-manage a client caseload in collaboration with the Specialized Police and Court Support team.
- Participate in regular supervision, case consults and debriefings with the Director, JRO.
- Additional Duties_
- Work in collaboration with the JRO team to identify communities of interest for outreach efforts, defined as efforts intended to remove barriers and increase access to sexual violence services for those who are un/underserved and/or those identified by the organization as a community of interest.
- Support the JRO team with research regarding specific client issues or developing new resources when requested.
- As may be required, participate in and provide support for Saffron Centre events/activities including workshops, fundraising events, general operations or administration, interagency meetings, community awareness activities, etc.
- Track all interactions with clients and external agencies via the Izzy Client Management System.
- Retrieve and consolidate statistics when required by the Director, JRO or the Executive Director (ED).

- Passion for sexual violence advocacy and a desire to lower barriers to access for those who have experienced sexual violence.

**Minimum Qualifications and Competencies**
- Degree in Social Work, Criminology, or a related discipline, or a diploma with demonstrable and relevant field experience.
- Minimum 2 years prior paid or unpaid experience working with victims of crime in the criminal justice sector.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license, a personal vehicle, and valid 2 million liability insurance coverage.
- Clear Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Clear Child Intervention Record Check.
- A signed Oath of Confidentiality is required to work, volunteer, or complete a practicum at the Organization.
- Specific training in Suicide Intervention, Mental Health First Aid, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) or Solution-Focused Therapy, and cultural awareness is advantageous.
