**Clinical Coordinator, College of Nursing**:
**Primary Purpose**: To provide leadership and expertise in the development, management, coordination, and evaluation of the clinical, lab and practicum placement processes within the College of Nursing with a particular focus on the distributed sites in Yorkton, Swift Current, North Battleford, Muenster, Weyburn, Ile le Crosse, La Ronge, and Lloydminster.
**Nature of Work**: The College of Nursing is the largest non-departmentalized college at the University of Saskatchewan and is among the most distributed with two main campuses and eight distributed sites across the province. The clinical coordinator establishes and maintains professional relationships that support collaboration and problem-solving.
This role is a complex position requiring an applicant with strong technical and social skills and the ability to manage a demanding workload with competing priorities. Attention to detail is critical, with the ability to plan months in advance, while also managing the day-to-day priorities.
This position reports to the Manager of Clinical Placement Coordination, Saskatoon. Travel within the province is an expectation. Work location for this position can be based at any one of our distributed locations. Alternative work arrangements of working hybrid or remote are also available.
**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
- In consultation with the Manager of Clinical Placement Coordination, manages the recruitment and retention of part-time clinical nursing instructors (e.g., orientation, professional development, and evaluation).
- Coordinates the assignment of duties with a particular focus on the Distributed sites.
- Establishes mutually beneficial partnerships with health care agencies, clinical placement personnel, faculty at the University of Saskatchewan, and partner institutions to develop opportunities for appropriate community and institution-based practicum experiences.
- Responsible for participating in all aspects of planning, coordinating, managing, tracking and evaluating clinical practicum placements for the College of Nursing’s undergraduate nursing education in collaboration with the other College of Nursing clinical coordinators.
- Under the leadership of the Manager of Clinical Placement Coordination, develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates the appropriate Health and Safety guidelines and processes (e.g., CPR, fit-testing, CRC, pandemic planning, TLR, HSPnet, and WCB consent forms).
- Contributes to ongoing development, maintenance, and analysis of the computerized clinical placement database to maximize the effectiveness of the system.
- Works collaboratively with all provincial Nursing programs to ensure adequate clinical placements for students.
- Contributes to the development, implementation, and evaluation of special projects related to expanded clinical placement opportunities (e.g., community development practice, international experiences, rural and remote experiences, interprofessional placement opportunities).
- Actively participates in and provide expertise and knowledge to committees as required.
**Qualifications**
**Education**: Registered nurse with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing or equivalent. Master’s degree preferred.
**Experience**: At least five years of directly related experience in a post-secondary or equivalently complex environment is required. Teaching experience and having held a position with Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) are considered assets.
**Skills**: Thorough knowledge and understanding of nursing programs, curriculum, professional competencies, provincial and national health care milieu, clinical resources, clinical placement trends, and nursing student preceptorships is required; Must be solutions oriented, self-motivated and creative with the ability to provide innovation and a project management approach to the position; expertise in using Microsoft Office software and databases is essential to the success of this position; ability to effectively work both independently and as a part of a team is necessary; strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; self-directed and innovative; and the proven ability to handle multiple tasks effectively and efficiently, meeting competing demands and tight deadlines; must interact positively, respectfully, with tact, discretion, and confidentiality and cultural awareness. A valid driver’s license is essential.**
