NOSM University is seeking a Research Assistant to support the growing research initiatives within the Centre of Social Accountability (CFSA). The Research Assistant will work closely with Centre researchers and programs to advance qualitative priorities and projects over the coming year and beyond. The Research Assistant will have the opportunity to be part of a growing research team and be part of an exciting research initiative within and across Northern Ontario.

This position is covered by the Terms and Conditions of the OPSEU Unit 677 Collective Agreement (Unit 2). A copy is available on the NOSM University website.

**Responsibilities**:
Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:

- Participates in the integrated research programs of the Centre (i.e., MERLIN, NORTHH)
- Works with the Centre team and stakeholders on emergent research projects
- Contributes to qualitative research study design and methodology
- Undertakes assigned document analysis and reviews
- Investigates and compiles information on research and methodological trends
- Supports qualitative data collection and analysis, as required
- Contributes to the preparation of research reports, papers and presentations
- Performs administrative and research liaison activities on specific research projects
- Supports knowledge mobilization activities (i.e., website, social media, etc.)
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**:
**Education**:

- A Masters degree in education, health sciences, or relevant discipline from a recognized university with Canadian accreditation
- PhD in a relevant field is considered an asset

**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**:

- Experience in collecting, analyzing, interpreting qualitative data
- Experience with qualitative software considered an asset
- Experience with seeking or obtaining funding
- Demonstrated success in working with dynamic teams
- Curiosity and ability to collaborate in a complex and evolving environment
- Must be able to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks and responsibilities
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent presentation skills to diverse audiences
- Good knowledge of university structure, policies and procedures considered an asset
- Advanced computer skills including proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint
- Ability to travel across Northern Ontario. A valid driver’s license is required.

**Language**:

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English (verbally, written and comprehension)
- French/Indigenous language skills would be considered asset
