Reporting to the Managing Director Americas, the Human Resources Manager guides and manages all Human Resources services, policies and programs, including recruiting and staffing, talent development, compensation and talent management, and manages all H&S policies for the Americas region (Canada & USA). The Human Resources Manager is well versed in Canadian and USA employment practices and legislation, payroll, benefits, etc.
As part of the Company’s senior leadership team, the HR Manager is the link between management and employees and participates in planning and strategy, executing the company’s objectives as they relate to personnel matters.
**Responsibilities**:
Talent Acquisition and Talent Management
- Recruits, interviews and selects employees to fill vacant positions.
- Plans and conducts on-boarding activities to foster positive attitude toward Company goals
- Coordinates management training in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance review, Health & Safety, and sexual harassment.
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee issues.
- Analyzes wage and salary reports and data to determine a competitive compensation plan.
- Develops and maintains an HR system that meets top management information needs
- Administers, updates and validates Compensation System on a regular basis to ensure external market equity and internal equity
- Administers a comprehensive performance review program to ensure effectiveness, compliance and equity within organization.
- Administers benefits programs such as health benefits, insurance, vacations, sick leave, leave of absence, and employee assistance.
Policies, procedures and good governance
- Manages all Employee relations policies and procedures
- Writes directives advising department managers of Company policy regarding equal employment opportunities, compensation, and employee benefits.
- Oversees the analysis, maintenance, and communication of records required by law or local governing bodies.
- Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting HR functions ensuring policies, procedures, and reporting are in compliance.
- Ensures all HR activities are in full compliance with Mpac’s Delegation of Authority document (DOA). Seeks legal advice on a case by case basis.
Health and Safety
- Investigates accidents and prepares accident reports. Manages MOL interaction
- Co-Chairs the Health & Safety Committee
- Manages and monitors WSIB claims. Enforces quick return to work program
- Ensures workplace inspections and reporting are done timely and effectively
Additional
- Prepares employee separation notices and related documentation, and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Contracts with outside suppliers to provide employee services, such as temporary employees, search firms etc.
- Organize all company communications and meetings related to employee relations (town hall meetings, H&S presentations, HR policy and process deployment)
- Events organization including planning, preparation and supervision of all social events
Required Knowledge & Skills
- 8+ years in a Human Resources Management role
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources management or job related experience
- CHRP or CHRL certification is preferred.
- Experience in Canadian and American employment environments.
- Ability to travel to USA site as required.
- Trained as Certified Management representative for Joint Health and Safety Committee & First Aid certified.
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to most sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Experience within Manufacturing Environment
- Outstanding creative writing and presentation development and delivery skills
- Above average command of Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
- Document writing at senior management level
- Comfortable speaking and making business presentations to large audiences
- Outstanding event organizational skills
