Job Summary
Reporting to the Director, IT Operations, the Database Administrator is responsible for the maintenance and availability of all core system databases.

**Responsibilities**:

- Update and maintain the overall database strategy from ‘As Is’ to ‘To Be’ Target state over a 3-5-year plan, including the selection of database technologies and the design and implementation of policies, standards and procedures.
- Build, Deploy and maintain a variety of both relational and non-relational databases including Oracle, Mongo, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, and Elasticsearch.
- Work within an agile development process, collaboratively across the IT and business functions to iteratively implement strategic IT deliverables and assist with implementation of DevOps SDLC.
- Capacity planning for future needs, including the planning and execution of major and minor database upgrades.
- Operation tasks such as account management, privilege management, backup and restore management, patching, and code deployments.
- Occasional after hours and weekend work is mandatory to support the business.
- Emphasis on security across all database technologies, including enforcement of internal database security standards.
- Participate in Disaster Recovery design, planning, and exercises, verifying that databases are recoverable within the required RTO’s and RPO’s.
- Proactively monitor business strategies and MI industry innovations and make recommendations for consideration into DevOps roadmaps.
- Participate in cross functional projects as required.

Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline.
- 5+ years of progressive software engineering industry experience.
- 3+ years’ experience in Oracle 11g/19c and OEM.
- Good working knowledge of database security, auditing logging, hardening practices.
- Hands on experience with deploying database security patches and remediation of database vulnerabilities.
- Solid working knowledge of performance tuning resolving production critical issues.
- Experience in Oracle Data Masking and redaction capabilities.
- Demonstrated experience with design-centered thinking with a focus on problem definition and resolution.
- Thrives in an agile, fast-paced, and delivery-focused environment.
- Proven ability to quickly consume and understand business strategy and operating models.
- DevOps experience is an asset.
- Experience with managing database systems in AWS or Azure is an asset.
- Previous experience in supporting a business in dealing with regulation, audit and SOC2 controls documentation and testing is an asset.
- Strong problem-solving and organization skills.
- Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills enabling the exchange of technical information with non-technical users.
