New employees must provide documentation/proof of full COVID-19 vaccination status, a 2-step TB screening, as well as proof of immunity to measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella (chickenpox) prior to their start date at St. Mary’s General Hospital. Staff will require clearance from Employee Health and Wellness before they are able to begin any position within SMGH.

**Position Summary**:
As a member of the Chest Unit 600 health care team, the Clinical Aide offers physical, emotional, and spiritual support to patients, their families, and other members of the health care team. The Clinical Aide ensures a safe environment and maintains a well-stocked and organized workplace, with emphasis on timely availability of supplies, equipment, and nutrition. The Clinical Aide is an unregulated care provider that provides direct and indirect support for patient care activities. The role is accountable to assist and support other members of the health care team in the provision of patient care. In addition the Clinical Aide is accountable and responsible to support patient safety such as infection control and prevention initiatives and ensure needed resources are available to support patient care needs.

**Position Requirements**:

- Minimum completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Training and/or experience with patient handling, mechanical lifts and transfers.
- Computer literacy
- Demonstrated leadership and a commitment to healthy work relationships through excellent communication skills, which require as an outcome, conflict resolution.
- Successfully able to perform their function in accordance with prescribed standards that focuses on the priority of People Safety and the delivery of the highest standard of Quality Care.

**Preferred Requirements**:

- **Graduate of a Health Related course at a community college.**:

- **Training and/or experience with patient handling, mechanical lifts and transfers.**:

- **Experience related to the unit’s area of clinical expertise.**
