The Analyst, Research Services + Institutional Grants is responsible for supporting and enhancing research services and institutional grants. This includes responsibility for supporting and developing pre and post award processes, managing special projects, data collection and management of records management software, grant reporting, and data-driven policy and procedure recommendations and development.**Benefits of Joining the Emily Carr community**

**Some Typical Duties**:
- Under the general supervision of the Manager, Research Administration + Operations, and Director, Institutional Grants, the Analyst provides pre
- and post-award support for Faculty and Institutional grants.
- Pre-award support includes: a. Communicates funding opportunities to ECU Faculty and Research Community. b. Identifies, develops, and implements initiatives for research facilitation including but not limited to organizing and/or conducting activities such as workshops, seminars, collaboration activities and/or research symposia. c. Coordinates research proposal preparation to meet internal review milestones and grant deadlines/requirements. d. Manages grant documents and submission processes.
- Post-award support includes: a. Informs and trains ECU Faculty and Research Community on grant management policies and procedures, and associated software tools. b. Coordinates the creation of contracts between the University and grant-funded project partners. c. Ensures granting agency requirements are met by following the Responsible Conduct of Research policy. d. Coordinates grant reporting requirements including data reports and analyses, and Faculty/Institution research reports. e. Manages digital and physical records associated with grant and research management.
- Manages projects funded by institutional grants (e.g. NSERC Mobilize) as assigned by the Director, Institutional Grants and is responsible for the following: a. Hires, trains, and manages project staff. b. Monitors grant metrics for evaluation and reporting. c. Monitors project budgets at a high level to ensure that expenses are adequately tracked and recorded. Rectifies any discrepancies in communication with the project management team, as required.d. Develops, modifies, and maintains project databases and performs project data analyses. e. Creates and updates a database of current and past research project partners and maintains good relationships with partners. f. Documents project outcomes and coordinates public-facing communication of ongoing and completed projects through website, newsletters, and other social media channels. Coordinates scheduled tours of research facilities to highlight project successes to external partners.
- Develops, implements, modifies, and maintains a comprehensive research records management system including data security protocols and effective workflows.
- Develops, modifies, and maintains an archive of research grants and activities that can be easily searched and summarized.
- Generates data-driven analyses and reports, as requested by the supervisor for purposes of communications, compliance, process improvement, or performance review.
- Analyses administrative processes and procedures and identifies opportunities for more effective research administration, including streamlining or automation of research administration processes.
- Regularly updates design and content of Research + Industry Office website. This includes resources for Faculty, Students and Research Community such as current grant opportunities, current Research Assistant positions, and Instructional Guides for research proposal development, research project management, and research management software.
