**Coordinator, Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Program (SHIRP)**:

The Saskatchewan Health Information Resources Program (SHIRP) is a program of the University Library that supports access to a sub-set of the University Library's health sciences e-resources for Saskatchewan's licensed health care practitioners, post-secondary institution students and employees, and employees of the Ministry of Health and designated health related organizations.

**Primary Purpose**: To lead the development and promotion of the electronic resources and document delivery service provided by SHIRP to health practitioners across the province, maintain strong relationships with health librarians in the province, and work collaboratively with SHIRP stakeholders throughout the province to further SHIRP’s mission.

**Nature of Work**: Reporting to the Associate Dean, Academic Engagement, this position is responsible for managing internal and external relationships for SHIRP as well as maintaining a long-term planning perspective for overseeing the resources and services provided by SHIRP. Success in this position will require collaboration with health sciences librarians and consultation with SHIRP stakeholders. This position requires the ability to manage multifaceted and difficult issues to achieve positive outcomes. The work requires a proactive and collaborative approach in a complex province-wide environment. Effective professional relationship building and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this position. This position requires creativity and persistence in finding solutions to satisfy the needs of internal and external stakeholders.

Occasional travel throughout the province and a valid driver’s license are required. Some evening and weekend work is also required.

**Accountabilities**:

- Responsible for the smooth and effective operation of SHIRP, including project management for new and existing projects
- Provides leadership in development of long-term program goals, directions, and services, keeping abreast of relevant new and emerging decisions and initiatives across Canada
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with SHIRP stakeholders, including healthcare professionals in a variety of geographies, professions, and types of practice, health librarians, and other relevant individuals and organizations who offer opportunities for cross-promotion and partnerships
- Facilitates evidence-based decision making for SHIRP’s collection development, integrating data and feedback from health librarians, healthcare professionals, usage statistics, and high-level understanding of health library resources
- Oversees the allocation of SHIRP’s resources and meets all reporting needs of the program, in conjunction with relevant university partners.
- Liaises with employees in other USask Library units as well as other relevant University departments to effectively operate SHIRP’s resources and services
- Based on an understanding of SHIRP’s existing and potential users, creates opportunities and resources to effectively promote SHIRP, including orientation for new members and promotion of existing resources and services

**Education**: Relevant bachelor’s or advanced degree, preferably in health sciences or business. Post-secondary education in library science is desirable.

**Desired Experience**:

- Working in a health or academic library in a technical or client services role
- Using health sciences electronic resources
- Developing strong relationships across institutions and geographies
- Developing content and delivering instruction in a variety of formats (in person, online, etc.)
- Basic maintenance of an online site (SHIRP currently uses Springshare’s libguides platform)
- Managing projects using well-established methodologies
