Job duties include overseeing the daily operation of the program, case management, strategic planning and budgeting, community engagement, building partnerships with referral services and schools, measuring compliance with shelter standards, performance management, scheduling, data management and reporting,

The SIS Manager is also responsible for the program at our expanded location; Helix House. This new transitional housing venture will also draw on your creativity, innovation and problem-solving skills to ensure the program is consistent and effective at promoting student success in this a new environment.

**Job Duties**

**Daily Operations**
- Responsible for program bed occupancy
- Reinforce rules in the program
- Stay involved and proactive with youth programming
- Conduct tours and interviews
- Maintains relationship with schools
- Ensure an inclusive and respectful environment
- Engage with YWS programs to support youth
- Monitor progress of youth through the program

**2.** **Program Planning**
- Develop partnerships within the community, referral services and schools
- Develop relevant programming
- Create a resource network that benefits both staff and residents with relatable information
- Work directly with Director of Operations to build and execute program strategy
- Attend staff and program meetings
- Create and adjust program policies and rules as needed
- Responsible for SIS budget and making appropriate purchases

**3.** **Staff Supervision**
- Supervise staff team, provide ongoing support and training
- Equally assign tasks and responsibilities
- Support case manager with case load
- Advocate for SIS staff
- Mediate in conflict resolution

**4.** **Safety and Crisis Management**
- Provide supervision of residents to maintain a safe environment.
- Recognize the signs of a crisis and provide crisis prevention/intervention
- Ensure all Health and Safety and IPAC policies and procedure are followed
- Ensure hourly facility checks, safety rules and scheduled fire drills are conducted
- Work with Property Manager in maintaining the safety and living conditions

**5.** **Administration**
- Maintain the appearance of the program and assist in the upkeep of the facility
- Ensure all administrative work is entered and up-to-date
- Manage and approve staff schedule, attendance and time off requests

**6.** **Personnel**
- Hire, onboard and train staff on program structure, rules and expectations
- Monitor and evaluate staff performance and encourage professional development
- Actively participate in agency training opportunities
- Complete annual performance review and quarterly check-ins
- Supervise placement students and volunteers
- Assist in the training of new relief staff

**7.** **Resident Relationships**
- Conduct all interactions with youth in manner that imparts dignity and understanding
- Develop positive, productive, professional relationships with the residents
- Encourage and inspire residents to achieve their potential

- Strong understanding of the issues facing homeless youth and the shelter system
- Ability to successfully manage a team and contribute to a positive and cohesive work culture
- Knowledge of appropriate intervention in a crisis

- Demonstrates creativity, flexibility and understanding when working with residents to balance their needs with the needs of the shelter
- Maintains an appropriate level of professionalism at all times including a cordial and productive working relationship with staff, volunteers and students
- Ability to demonstrate clear communication, both written and verbally
- Accepts responsibility for actions and demonstrates initiative for professional growth
- Committed to the mission and values of the organization

**Requirements**:

- Post-secondary diploma or degree in Social Work, Child and Youth Work, or equivalent from a university or community college
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a program and people manager - must be able to demonstrate experience managing people and leadership abilities.
- Working knowledge of trauma-informed care
- Training in crisis intervention and response
- Minimum 2 years of experience in case management, preferably in youth and/or shelter sector
- Knowledge of the issues that lead young people to become homeless
- Ability to make appropriate assessments and referrals
- Knowledge of community resources, and referral agencies is preferred
- Able to keep detailed and up-to-date clients records o
