Berwick Qualicum Beach retirement community is looking for a **Multi-Service Worker **who is reliable, authentic, and excited to make a difference in the lives of people. **Wage**:
Starting Wage is $24.40 (Includes covid-19 wage subsidy and evening differentials).
**Schedule**:
Shifts are Thursday to Saturday, 12:00pm to 8:00pm, for a total of 24 hours weekly. This position is temporary.

**Job Summary**:
Under the supervision of the General Manager and the Resident Services Manager, the Non-Certified Multi-Service Worker provides assistance to daily living for Berwick residents. The MSW must provide assistance in a manner conducive to resident safety, comfort, and dignity, while maintaining choice, independence, and individuality. This position may also be responsible for Emergency Response for the building and its occupants.
The MSW is aware of and conforms to Assisted Living Registrar requirements and applicable internal policies as it relates to Enhanced Living Services.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Operates switchboard to correctly answer telephone calls and to transfer and announce callers or to take messages accurately and appropriately.
- Responds to public and resident inquiries as appropriate.
- Follows established policies and protocols to provide initial emergency response in the event of a power outage, earthquake, fire, silent fire drill or resident emergency. Assess situation, provides assistance where appropriate, and contacts medical personnel/911 when required.
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Experienced in the field of geriatrics.
- Experience in a related office and administrative field
- Excellent word processing, database, and spreadsheet skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Programs including excel, word, and outlook
- Ability to work with staff as a team is essential
- Good observational and recording skills
- WHMIS Certification
- Valid Emergency First Aid, CPR, and AED training
- Certified in the “Basics of Medication Administration” or equivalent training and experience
- Trained in handling emergency situations such as power outages, fire, earthquake, and medical emergencies
- Ability to work independently and follow instructions with mínimal supervision
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently, and understands verbal and written instructions
- Polite, courteous, and must work well with seniors and the public
- Ability to demonstrate empathy and patience when working with residents and staff
- Must have knowledge, skills, and training on how to manage and respond to potential harassment in the workplace (verbal, physical and sexual).
**Note**: A criminal record check is required pursuant to the Criminal Records Review Act for working with vulnerable adults. Current TB test also required, as well as proof of Covid-19 vaccination(s).
