Position Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Facility Operations, this position provides leadership to the maintenance staff team in the daily operation of a group of Town facilities. In addition to scheduling staff and overseeing regular maintenance responsibilities, the Supervisor, Facility Maintenance is accountable for the enforcement of quality cleaning standards and monitoring the preventative maintenance of equipment and maintaining material and supply inventory.

Major Job Responsibilities- Ensures the day to day operation of facility components are operated in accordance with applicable regulations and legislation- Develops and manages daily work plans based on facility programming requirements- Anticipates customers’ needs and proactively addresses potential concerns before they arise- Maintains ongoing communication with program, facility booking office, and customer service staff to maintain a high level of team efficiency- Promotes Ontario’s legislated “3Rs Program” (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) within the organization and the community, including waste and transportation initiatives- Responsible for the safe and efficient operation of facility systems; includes decision making in emergency situations to protect the safety of the public and/or the protection and maintenance of municipal assets- Understanding of a sustainability program designed to achieve savings while contributing to environmental protection. Fosters energy efficient practices and behaviors throughout the organization- Implements, monitors, follows-up and maintains quality assurance programs- Conducts and follows-up on facility inspections, identifying areas in need of corrective maintenance or opportunities for preventative maintenance work- Manages all maintenance activities and repairs performed by all full and part-time maintenance staff and contractors- Researches and monitors trends, customer requests and customer satisfaction results to help inform continuous improvement and effective facility operations- Completes staff evaluations- Provides daily direction and support to staff at multiple facilities- Conducts regular staff meetings to ensure policies and procedures are communicated, quality standards are maintained and to solicit feedback from staff- Manages and administers staff time and attendance processes- Complies with and assumes appropriate supervisory responsibility for compliance with all health and safety practices of the Division in accordance with standard operating guidelines and the Occupational Health & Safety Act- Provides input for annual operating and capital budget development for assigned portfolio, monitors, controls and reports on the operating budget to ensure fiscal responsibility and that budget targets and service objectives are being effectively met- Maintains and administers purchasing and inventory control systems to ensure that adequate supplies, equipment are available for daily facility operations- Analyzes maintenance requirements to determine scope of work based on available resources and service impacts- Manages service contracts with external vendors based on financial resources and schedule coordination

Education & Experience- Post-secondary diploma in Recreation and Leisure, Facility Management or a related field and/or combination of relevant post-secondary education and related experience- Minimum five (5) years supervisory experience in a recreation environment- Experience in pool water chemistry, refrigeration plants operation, ice maintenance, facility operations (including facility automation, electrical, plumbing, security), building maintenance, HVAC systems and risk management- Experience in preventative maintenance management is an asset- Certified Pool Operator is an asset- B ticket certification is an asset- RRFS (Registered Recreation Facility Supervisor) is an asset- Standard First Aid/CPR is an asset- Working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations, i.e. OHSA- Proven ability to effectively manage and develop staff- Sound analytical, decision making, financial control, report writing and leadership skills- A valid Ontario Driver’s License Class “G” with a satisfactory driving record
