Localization Content Specialist, Canada

**Company Description**:
- Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
- So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality through Afterpay, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
- Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
The Globalization team helps to bring Square products and services to the world. Its goal is to leverage Square’s success in the U.S. and deliver innovative, simple, unique and fully localized experiences to international Sellers. We are looking for a highly motivated localization specialist to join Square’s fun and fast-paced team in Toronto, Canada. Reporting to the Localization Content Specialist Manager, you will help us shape Square's message with maximum relevance in Canada, amplifying the brand and products in the market in Canadian French and English. As such, this role requires someone who has native proficiency with writing and speaking in both languages.
**You Will**:
- Interpret Square’s content strategy and contribute with a local perspective, tailoring the approach to be the most effective in English Canada and French Canada
- Contribute to linguistic validation as an expert in English and French, upholding a high-quality bar across the asset pipeline
- Work on content related to Square hardware and online products, maintaining glossaries, and term bases to ensure consistent use of terminology across UIs
- Conduct localization quality assurance to support product and campaign launches
- Work closely with cross-functional stakeholders, including localization program managers and product marketing teams
- Understand localization processes and partner with internal and external stakeholders to nurture best practices
**Qualifications**:
**You Have**:
- 3+ years of experience in the localization industry, either on the marketing or product side
- Native proficiency in French (as spoken in Canada) and English, including strong grammar, writing, and editing skills
- Deep understanding of the Canadian markets, its cultural dimensions and linguistic norms
- Proven experience with global brands in a role that engages with outside agencies to manage and produce locally relevant content
- Familiarity with translation, localization and transcreation processes and technology
- Experience collaborating effectively across multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously
- Experience as an excellent team player in a fast-paced multicultural team
- Experience working with Phrase (formerly Memsource) or comparable TMS
