Reporting to the Claims Specialist and in conjunction with the VP Operations, the Claims Advocate is responsible for reporting claims on behalf of CMB Insurance Brokers as well as internal and external investigation of losses to determine tort and DCPD liability and to coordinate the management of all claims arising from losses. Also responsible for supporting the CMB team by providing superior customer service and communication between the Sales Team, internal/external clients/vendors, carriers and adjusters within the claims experience.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Provide superior customer service to internal and external clients
- Advocate for CMB clients with adjusters
- Communicate effectively with clients regarding ongoing claims and claims process
- Report claims to insurers and assist with client communication
- Review and advise on internal weekly claims report
- Assist with claims training to brokerage staff
- Create claims file and track claim progress utilizing systems in use by CMB Insurance Brokers
- Ensure that claims files are maintained on the CMB Insurance Brokers systems
- Follow up on open claims with all parties to facilitate the closing of the claim in a fair and expeditiously manner, work with the sales & service teams to establish a course of action when necessary
- Mediate claims on behalf of clients when necessary
- Establish and maintain working relationships with insurer claims departments in order to facilitate open claims
- Establish and maintain a working relationship with independent adjusting firms and vendors
- Guide our clients through the evaluation and total loss process
- Assist clients with the dispute resolution process
- Guide our clients through claims that they would like to handle themselves
- Assist our clients with the understanding and completion of a final release when looking after losses outside of insurance

**CLAIMS ADMINISTRATION**
- Ensure the proper and appropriate use of procedures, including brand maintenance, when performing tasks
- Prepare correspondence, and receive communication
- Review policy wording, coverage, Insurance Act & Tort Law as it applies to claims for CMB clients
- Review and document recommendations for claim disposition, including evaluation, negotiation and settlement of claims.
- Provide oversight and guidance for claims administration for US and Canadian incidents
- Other duties that may be assigned

**TEAM SUPPORT**
- Abide by and adhere to the policies and procedures as outlined in the CMB Policies & Procedures Manual
- Mentor CMB staff with claims technical knowledge
- Meet with sales teams to assist with outstanding claims
- Take all steps to avoid Errors & Omissions, and report any potential E&O to the Claims Specialist
- Utilize the Agency Manager and Microsoft Office Suite
- Be familiar with, and follow, company policies and procedures as established (Employee Handbook, Claims Procedures, etc.)
- Attend and participate in staff meetings and company functions

**Knowledge and Experience**
- 2-4 years of experience within the claims insurance environment
- Experience with auto claims
- Experience with Quantum and Liability negotiations, and investigations
- Experience with vehicle settlements and the dispute resolution process
- Experience with the vehicle repair process with a good understanding of estimates and appraisals
- Creative problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Member of, or currently working towards, C.I.P., CAIB or CRM designation
- Experience with commercial auto claims and transportation claims would be an asset
- Experience with cargo and environmental, and downtime claims would be an asset
- Basic understanding of WCB legislation, BI and Accident Benefits would be an asset
