The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) applies their breadth of theoretical and practical HR knowledge to effectively support Edmonton Catholic School Division's educational programming and operations. The HR Business Partner manages a designated portfolio of schools and departments, ensuring the effective delivery of HR services, with primary responsibility for staffing, and contributes to developing and implementing HR initiatives across the Division.
As a strategic partner to administrators and managers, the HRBP is relied upon for ensuring the alignment of human resource strategies with the Division's Plan for Continuous Growth, Mission, Vision, and Core Values. The HRBP is also relied upon for providing expert HR guidance and support to all Division employees.
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule.
**Responsibilities**:
**1. Recruitment and Staffing Consultation**
- Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies and processes for competitive hiring, staff allocation, and priority placements
- Ensure staffing aligns with obligations outlined in union collective agreements, terms and conditions of employment, Human Rights, employment standards, and the Education Act
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to leaders, in both schools and departments, regarding staffing procedures and best practices
**2. Employee Relations**
- Advise and guide employees, managers, and directors on issues related to performance
- Assist principals and managers in the performance evaluation process and documentation
- Work with Employee Relations Advisors as needed, to support, monitor, and document relevant facts as a matter of record and to address escalating issues
- Work with Employee Health Services to manage workplace accommodations
**3. Classification and Organizational Design**
- Ensure that job descriptions are accurate and reflective of the skills and qualifications required for the position
- Provide strategic advice to Division leaders to plan and implement operational realignments and redesigns
- Take part in job classification and job sizing processes
**4. HR Metrics and Analytics / Data and Reporting**
- Gather and analyze data to identify trends and provide actionable insights
- Generate reports and support presentations with the Staffing Manager on staffing initiatives
- Utilize HR data to inform decision-making and track the efficiencies of HR best practices
- Provide guidance on employee engagement and retention strategies
- Ensure data gathered from Hiring Managers is reflected and communicated appropriately to applicable departments to support accuracy within HR systems
**5. Consultation and Communication**
- Counsel principals, directors, and managers throughout staffing processes to ensure transparency, equity and adherence to the Division’s mission, vision, commitments and priorities.
- Support a comprehensive and coordinated approach to promote positive mental health with all Division employees
- Participate in presentations on HR topics to division leadership, staff, and partners
- Support recruitment events and initiatives as needed

**Job Qualifications**
**Knowledge**
- Degree in Human Resource Management or related area, plus five years of directly related experience_
- Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), or working towards the designation considered an asset
- Knowledge of human resource management principles and practices, payroll policies, procedures, and practices, and awareness of the Alberta Labour Standards Act
- Knowledge of collective agreements and OOS Terms and Conditions
- Knowledge of strategic and operational planning principles and practices
- Knowledge of recruitment software, HRMS, and data management practices
