About You / What We Are Looking For
As a Maintenance Worker Roads, you will be performing skilled manual work involving the maintenance and repair of roadways, streets, boulevards and pedestrian passages. In this position you will have a variety of daily tasks such as snow plowing, asphalt paving, installing & inspecting street signs, clearing vegetation, assisting in concrete finishing tasks, and operating single and tandem axle dump trucks. You may also be called upon to maintain, clean, test and perform routine repairs on various pumps, valves, hydrants and related equipment and perform pipe laying on water, storm and sanitary sewers initially under the supervision of peers.
This position will require you to work as part of a team and to demonstrate excellent customer service skills with members of the public and co-workers.
We have three openings available. Two positions are Monday to Friday and one is Saturday to Wednesday.
Qualifications
- Have completed at least Grade 12 education.
- Have considerable related work experience in roads.
- Have completed relevant post-secondary courses in Public Works.
- Possess sound knowledge of the principles, practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in road infrastructure maintenance.

This CUPE position has an hourly rate range of $35.89.
