**General Purpose**

Reporting to the Director of Student Experience, the Manager, Office of Student Accountability will lead the operationalization of the Office of Student Accountability as a new unit at the University of Guelph.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

The Manager will be responsible for ensuring a timely response through the Office to instances of non-academic misconduct, students of concern, and disruptive student behaviour on campus. They will provide advisement, assessment, and coaching support in case consultations with staff, faculty, and administrators on policy and practices in student conduct and behaviour management, accurately interpreting policy and assessing the nature and complexity of non-academic concerns.

The Manager will support students, staff, and faculty in navigating the policy on non-academic misconduct and receive complaints under the policy. This includes overseeing intake and preliminary assessments, investigations, findings of responsibility, and developing outcomes alongside students and/or assigning outcomes using administrative, facilitated, and adjudicated resolution processes, while utilizing natural justice and procedural fairness.

The Manager will chair the Student Support and Response Team (SSaRT) under the Student Support and Response Protocol, and will coordinate operational activities for the team, navigating behavioural concerns of students whose mental health and wellness negatively impacts themselves and/or the community.

The Manager will oversee the onboarding of a new case management software for non-academic misconduct and the SSaRT. They will develop, review, and update documents and procedures, as well as software case management workflows, as they relate to the non-academic misconduct policy and ensure appropriate record management in the office, complying with institutional record retention policies and all regulatory policies.

As the office expands over time, the Manager will recruit, hire, train, and evaluate the performance of staff in the Office of Student Accountability.

**Requirements**:

- A Master’s Degree coupled with 5 years progressive experience in student affairs, higher education, or related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to and practice of principles of Indigenization, equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and anti-racism.
- Proven ability to exercise a high level of judgment, diplomacy, and tact, and manage high-risk and complex situations.
- Proven ability to respect and maintain confidentiality in sensitive and/or volatile situations.
- Experience in managing and coordinating student support, non-clinical case management, investigations, and findings of responsibility under misconduct policies.
- Experience with case management software, and management experience in designing case management workflows.
- Experience with behavioural intervention team standards and best practices.
- Experience with using violence and threat risk assessment rubrics, and violence and risk assessment report writing, including National Association for Behavioural Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) or Protect International risk rubrics and threat assessment training.
- Training in any of the following would be considered an asset:

- Restorative justice, mediation, dispute resolution,
- Behaviour Intervention Teams and / or Care teams,
- Gender-based violence, mental health, trauma informed approaches, neurodiversity, and
- Case management with at-risk populations.
- Proven success serving as a consultant and collaborating with university faculty and staff on a broad range of topics related to non-academic misconduct and classroom management.
- Demonstrated excellent human relations, and advising skills, especially the ability to empathize, and communicate effectively in intercultural, and postsecondary settings.
- Proven leadership, and administrative responsibility to direct teams, foster staff motivation, and manage employee performance to implement operational plans.
