The Accounting and Payroll Specialist will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, maintaining financial records, and employment benefit programs. This role requires a thorough understanding of accounting principles, payroll procedures, and compliance with all applicable regulations (US and Canada). They must also be open to assisting with administrative duties as required.

This position can be in-office at our Dartmouth location or remote. (Must be able to commute into office for training period.)

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Process payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations in both Canada and the US.
- Calculate wages, benefits, deductions, and taxes.
- Prepare and distribute payroll reports.
- Manage employee benefit program.
- Support the Management team with administrative tasks.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing and payment processing.
- Reconcile bank statements and financial records.
- Prepare financial statements and reports for management.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and legal requirements in both Canada and the US.
- Maintain organized and accurate financial records.
- Assist with audits and provide necessary documentation.
- Respond to payroll-related inquiries from employees and management.
- Perform other accounting and payroll-related duties as assigned.
- Assist with year-end financials for both Canada and the US.

**Qualifications**:

- Proven experience in accounting and payroll roles.
- Certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and payroll practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel).
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 15 months

Pay: $50,000.00-$57,000.00 per year

**Experience**:

- Accounting: 2 years (preferred)
