**The Opportunity**

The Facility Maintenance Division of the Corporate Facility Management Department is looking for an outgoing and hard-working Facility Worker. This position requires a thorough knowledge of basic facility maintenance practices to perform a wide variety of tasks related to servicing, maintaining and repairing City facilities and equipment, indoors and out. This includes a variety of minor construction/renovation tasks and additional facilities-related duties as assigned. Maintaining safe work practices and ensuring safe working environments are mandatory. Promote effective employee relations and establish and maintain effective working relations with all other City employees, other contracted service providers and members of the general public.

**Responsibilities**

As a team member of the Facility Maintenance Division you will appreciate working with a diverse group of skilled trade's related individuals who take great pride in the City we maintain. We achieve above-average results by encouraging our people to think outside the box and by continuously improving our skills and knowledge of new methods & technologies in the facility maintenance field.

You must have the ability to present yourself positively and professionally through tactful communication (both verbal and written) with co-workers, customers and suppliers. You will be self-motivated, organizing his/her work including procuring required supplies, performing maintenance and repairs, and ensuring on-site coordination with customers while meeting completion deadlines.

**You Bring**
- Completion of Building Maintenance Level II, Building Operator Level II, or the technical equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Requires a valid Alberta Driver’s License (Class 5 minimum).
- Working knowledge of MS Office Suite programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
- Standard First Aid Certificate with CPR
- Ability to communicate tactfully and effectively in person and on the telephone.
- The ability to exercise mature judgment in dealing appropriately with staff, contractors and with members of the public is also required.
- Physical abilities to perform the duties of the position.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move heavy objects.
- On-call duties as required on a scheduled rotation.
- Ability to work independently.
- Physical Ability to Work test may be requested before appointment to a position.

**Hours**

This position is based on an eight (8) hour work day, five (5) days per week. Mon - Fri 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM.

**Compensation**

As per the CUPE Collective Agreement $35.74/hr.
