Through collaborative and community-engaged processes, the Office will facilitate partnerships that increase Indigenous voices and presence across all levels of work, study and research at Western. Office of Indigenous Initiatives Priority areas - Institutional Indigenous strategic planning - Indigenous communications - Indigenous community engagement and advisories - Indigenous space planning and management - Indigenous access and recruitment strategies - Indigenous curriculum and training development - Indigenous faculty and staff recruitment and retention strategy Within this Office, the Indigenous Student Centre unit is organizationally housed, and offers culturally-relevant wholistic and strength-based programs and services geared toward Indigenous students at Western. **Responsibilities**: The Science Tutoring position is available with Western’s Indigenous Student Center, WSSB 2100. **Applicants must be current graduate students at Western University with demonstrated knowledge in the following areas**: - **First and second year Biology courses**: - **First year Mathematics courses** Duties include providing academic support via one-on-one in person and/or small group sessions for first and second year Biology courses and first year Mathematics courses. **Skills, Abilities, and Expertise** - Demonstrated proficiency in tutoring first and second year Chemistry courses and first year Mathematics courses with a strong academic foundation. - Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling clear and effective engagement with students. - Proven ability to build and sustain positive and collaborative working relationships. - Skilled in fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment that promotes students' academic success, personal growth, and social development. - Capable of working efficiently both independently and as part of a team, adapting to varying responsibilities and environments. - Adept at critical thinking, problem-solving, and providing thoughtful, constructive feedback to support continuous improvement. - Exercises sound judgment and makes informed decisions. - Actively participates in ongoing professional development through required training sessions, workshops, and meetings. **Why Western?**: **Background Checks**: While transcripts are not required for the interview, they may be necessary prior to any offer of employment.
