**Kingdon Timber Mart **is a family run business serving Peterborough and Lakefield (Selwyn) township since 1927. Kingdon Timber Mart has 2 locations in Peterborough, and Lakefield, we expanded our Lakefield store and are offering more to serve our clientele giving them a one stop shop for building and home improvement supplies and equipment.
We have recently opened a Husqvarna dealership as a part of our Home improvement centre and are seeking an energetic, personable self-starter to join our team.

**Cashier**

Cashier Job Responsibilities:

- Provides a positive customer experience with fair, friendly, and courteous service.
- Registers sales on a cash register? POS system by scanning items, itemizing and totaling customers’ purchases.
- Resolves customer issues and answers questions.
- Bags purchases if needed.
- Processes return transactions.
- Itemizes and totals purchases by recording prices, departments, taxable and nontaxable items; and operating a cash register/ POS system.
- Enters price changes by referring to price sheets and special sale bulletins.
- Discounts purchases by redeeming coupons.
- Collects payments by accepting cash, or charge payments from customers and makes change for cash customers.
- Verifies credit acceptance by reviewing and recording driver’s license number; and operating credit card authorization systems.
- Balances cash drawer by counting cash at beginning and end of work shift.
- Provides pricing information by answering questions.
- Maintains checkout operations by following policies and procedures and reporting needed changes.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

We are open Monday to Friday 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM and Saturdays 8am to 4pm

Full time will work an 8.5-hour shift in between the hours of 7am to 5:30pm. When you work a Saturday, you will get a day off in the week. We offer benefits after a year and an RRSP plan.

This position requires a large amount of standing in one spot with some walking and some occasional lifting (50lb).

Cashier Qualifications/ Skills:

- Friendly and positive attitude
- Excellent customer service
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to make change
- Basic math skills
- Attention to detail
- Knowledge of computer systems
- POS systems

Education and Experience Requirements:

- High school diploma or equivalent desired
- 0-1 years of retail experience desired
- Effective communication and customer service skills
- Readily adjusts schedule, tasks, and priorities when necessary to meet business needs

Pay: $16.55-$19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 - 44 per week
