**Job Description**:
We are looking for an Analyst to join the Real Estate team within the Real Assets group in Toronto, during an exciting period of transformative change and growth. CPP Investments’ approach to real estate investments is to pursue large and scalable JV transactions with best-in-class operating partners, as well as pursuing both public and private company “platform” investment opportunities when warranted. We are growing rapidly, and the scale and complexity of our investment approach is constantly increasing. The RE group manages a global portfolio of over C$50 billion in equity investments and C$9 billion gross asset value in Canada.

RE invests in real estate across the risk spectrum, from development projects to stabilized assets, with a particular focus on programmatic investments that enable our portfolio to achieve scale with key partners. We invest primarily with aligned operating partners in direct real estate through joint ventures but will also consider private and public real estate platforms. In Canada, we actively invest in major markets across the country, including all major asset classes such as retail, office, industrial, residential, while we continue to evaluate other emerging sectors.

Based in Toronto, you will be a key contributor to scaling the business in our home market and will: i) work on transaction deal teams to undertake and manage long-term, sizeable equity investments across Canada; ii) actively engage in portfolio and asset management; and iii) help develop new investment strategies. You will have significant exposure to all elements of the Canadian real estate business, including access to some of the best-in-class managers in the country and large-scale income producing and development assets. The role provides an opportunity to be actively involved in both new transaction execution and oversight of existing real estate JV investments across multiple real estate sectors and markets.

**What you will do**:

- Work on transaction deal teams to undertake and manage long-term, sizeable equity investments across Canada and multiple real estate asset classes involving varied investment structures
- Assist in the preparation of investment committee recommendations including executing due diligence, financial underwriting, and market research activities
- Development and maintenance of detailed, dynamic financial models to analyze investment opportunities
- Remain current on market and industry developments to help frame portfolio and investment strategies
- Compile internal and external data to assist in ongoing portfolio management responsibilities
- Take an active role in the monitoring and management of the investments - manage and prepare quantitative analysis of portfolio and asset business plans
- Engage alongside senior staff in the selection, evaluation and on-going monitoring of relationships and investments
- Assist in building relationships with external parties (lawyers, accountants, tax, and commercial advisors etc.) in transactions
