**Supervisor: Environmental Services Supervisor**
**Hours of Work: Shifts as scheduled including 8 and 12-hour shifts, weekends and holidays**
**Rate of Pay: $22.12 per hour**
**Duration: May 1, 2025 to August 31, 2025**
**Closing Date: February 6, 2025**
The John M. Parrott Centre is a fully accredited state-of-the-art, 168-bed long-term care home, owned and operated by the County of Lennox and Addington, in the Town of Greater Napanee. The John M. Parrott Centre offers free parking, a safe work environment, and upgraded technology. We are currently seeking a highly motivated and energetic student for the position of Preventative Maintenance for the summer.
**QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE**:
- A strong interest in building and maintaining facilities, with a willingness to learn and develop skills in plumbing, carpentry, drywalling, painting, electrical, and mechanical systems in a commercial setting
- No prior professional experience is required, though any exposure to trades or hands-on work is considered an asset
- A keen interest in learning about systems such as call bell systems, heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC), fire alarm systems, and generators, with the ability to assist in their maintenance in a commercial environment
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks, with an understanding of risk management and safety protocols
- Highly organized, self-motivated, with a willingness to ask questions and seek guidance when needed
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory criminal record check
- Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting up to 60 lbs., and a strong commitment to safety in all activities
- Any cleaning experience, particularly in commercial or healthcare settings with knowledge of infection control practices, would be an asset
- An interest in working in healthcare environments, such as long-term care or hospital settings, and a genuine interest in supporting seniors would be beneficial
- Must be registered or planning to register for post-secondary education or apprenticeship in the next academic year in a related field (e.g., facilities management, engineering, trades, etc.).
**DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION**:
- Conduct necessary routine, preventative, and remedial maintenance on all facility mechanical, electrical, life safety systems, facility equipment, building interior, and grounds following facility policies and procedures and required legislation (MOH, MOL, building codes, fire codes, etc.)
- Keeping appropriate documentation
- Housekeeping tasks to include routine and deep cleaning procedures to maintain a hospital-clean environment
- Actively engage in skill development to support future career growth in trades or healthcare.
