**Kangaroo Contracting (Landscape Division) is hiring a Supervisor for our Nanaimo Team**
Are you a natural leader with a passion for landscaping and team management? We're looking for a Supervisor to oversee our team and help maintain our high standards of quality and efficiency.
**Job Requirements**:
- **VALID Class 5 Driver’s License**:
- **Reliable transportation** to and from the office/yard
- **A working cell phone** with a plan (for communication during shifts)
- **Clean criminal record check**:
- Physically capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Must wear appropriate safety clothing, including steel-toe boots and a safety vest
- Must be able to lift, carry, and push equipment and materials such as lawn clippings
- **Sober and smoke-free while on shift** (includes marijuana and vaping)
- **Proficient in operating small machines** such as gas lawn mowers, weed whackers, and leaf blowers
- Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and pride in delivering quality work
- **Proven leadership skills**, with the ability to delegate tasks, manage priorities, and foster a positive team environment
- **Experience in landscaping or related fields** preferred
- Ability to follow work schedules, meet deadlines, and provide updates to management
**Supervisor Responsibilities**:
- Lead and supervise a team in performing landscaping tasks efficiently and professionally
- Organization, must be able to communicate with clients and organize tasks within the weekly schedule.
- Delegation, must be able to delegate tasks and see that they are completed.
- Ensure daily work tasks are completed on schedule and meet company standards
- Perform routine landscaping duties including:
- Lawn mowing, edging, weed whacking, garden bed maintenance, top dressing, pruning, fertilizing, weeding, yard waste hauling, and irrigation work
- Train and mentor team members to improve skills and productivity
- Monitor job site safety and ensure adherence to safety protocols
- Maintain communication with the Lead Hand and management regarding progress, challenges, and successes
- Speed, landscape maintenance requires a fast paced team to complete the job and requires a strong leader to set an example for the junior crew members.
**Irrigation Responsibilities**:
- Please Note All large properties we look after are taken care of by a irrigation company we only look after the smaller systems, However we do monitor the systems.
- Oversee and assist with irrigation system start-up at the beginning of the season, including testing and troubleshooting systems for leaks, functionality, and coverage
- Perform seasonal maintenance and adjustments to ensure proper watering throughout the season
- Coordinate and execute the shut-down of irrigation systems at the end of the season, including draining and winterizing pipes to prevent damage
- Diagnose and repair irrigation system issues as they arise
- Train team members on proper irrigation techniques and system handling
**Job Details**:
- **Job Type**: Full-Time
- **Salary**: $28.00 - $32.00/hr (based on experience, leadership skills, work ethic, and productivity)
- **Schedule**: 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday (8:00 AM - 4:30 PM)
- **Work Locations**: Commercial and residential sites across Parksville to Chemainus, BC. Supervisors must arrive at the company lay down yard and ride in the work truck to designated job sites.
