**Job Summary**
- Student Affairs is a collection of integrated units that collaborates with faculty, staff and students to enhance the student experience. We promote an inclusive, holistic and student-centric approach to learning and academic success and act as a professional resource in the delivery of evidence-based student enrolment, wellness, development and academic support programs and services. Reporting to the Director, International Centre, the University & Community Transition Coordinator will support international students on their journey to and through Dalhousie University, by coordinating orientation programming, transition services, and student engagement initiatives, and by building a sense of community and belonging.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Coordinate pre-arrival communication with new international students, engaging in early community-building, and developing resources to help students prepare for their journey to Canada and their time at Dalhousie.
- Seek opportunities to engage international students in ways that support community-building, and a sense of belonging at Dalhousie, including working with on-campus and community partners, and student groups and societies, to facilitate opportunities.
- Plan, implement and evaluate orientations (fall, winter, summer) for new international and exchange students as well as other International Centre programs and services that support students’ arrival, transition, and overall experience at Dalhousie.
- Serve as a primary resource person for international students who require assistance with arrival logistics, on-campus and off-campus resources, and settlement needs.
- Develop online tools and resources to help students adjust to university and community life in a Canadian setting. Collect and maintain comprehensive data and statistics, and implements tool and strategies to assess and monitor student needs and participation.
- Support ongoing communications efforts including by monitoring and curating content on social media platforms, and drafting content for newsletters. Recruit, train, and oversee student staff and volunteers to assist with programming and communications.
**Note**
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
**Required Qualifications**
- Undergraduate in related discipline plus approximately two to four years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Experience planning and executing programs, projects, and events, and related communications.
- Demonstrated intercultural competency.
- Strong communication (verbal and written) skills, and the ability to generate and develop social media content.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as a member of a dynamic team while balancing multiple priorities and projects, and changing conditions, priorities and requirements.
