On Call Early Childhood Educator

**The Opportunity**

The _Kinnikinnik Childcare Centre_ has an amazing opportunity for **two (2)** newly certified or seasoned **Early Childhood Educators (ECE) or ECE-Assistants** to join our team of dedicated professionals. The positions are casual/on-call with the possibility and flexibility to become full-time. We offer a progressive environment wherein our educators provide early childhood education through a variety of Early Learning Program experiences and activities to a diverse group of children.

**What will you do and need to know?**
- A good understanding and embrace the Ministry of Education Early Learning Framework (ELF).
- Develop, implement, and participate with the childcare team in all learning programs including
- Leading and supporting child program play, development, and learning activities
- Preparing snacks and assisting children during snack time
- Toilet training and diapering
- Preparing children for the next phase of their school journey
- Plan and implement an emergent curriculum in collaboration with the childcare team including
- Report maintenance issues to the Joint Health and Safety Representative & Administrator
- Document and report incidents and near misses to the KCC Administrator
- Reports all worn, torn, damaged play and office equipment to the KCC Administrator
- Contribute to setting up and ensuring a safe indoor/outdoor play environment and activities
- Maintains good housekeeping and sanitary conditions of the staff kitchen, classroom, outdoor play area, children’s high touch areas, toys, child washrooms, cubby area, and does laundry as required
- Responsible for clear communication and accurate record keeping of children’s activities through the communication book or app and ensures confidentiality as required with staff/parents
- Adheres to all licensing regulations including childcare ratio compliance, ensures children are signed in/out, and maintains accurate attendance records
- Adheres to all opening and/or closing routines as applicable
- Other duties as assigned

**What You Need to Succeed**
- Must Have_
- Early Childhood Education certification from a recognized institution, Food Safe, and Childcare or Community Service Workers Emergency First Aid Certificate
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and time management skills
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada and successfully complete a criminal record check and/or vulnerable sector security clearance
- Nice to Have_
- A valid class 5 BC driver license
- Infant/Toddler and Special Needs certification

The position(s) are on-site at the Kinnikinnik Childcare Centre located at 1575 Military Row. Office hours are Monday - Friday, 6:45 AM - 5:00 PM and closed statutory holidays and weekends. As the positions are casual/on-call, shifts and start times will vary and overtime may be required to meet operational requirements.

Compensation depends on experience and certification. Supplementary licenses earn additional hourly incentives.
