**The Opportunity**

Our House Youth Wellness Centre is looking for a committed, innovative, adaptable, and resilient Youth Outreach Worker, who can provide both group programming and individual support to young people with complex backgrounds and needs. We need someone with an unwavering determination to make a difference and meet the flexible and varied work environment of a non-profit.

**Responsibilities include**
- Planning and coordinating outreach activities that are intended to identify, capture the attention and interest of, and foster involvement of marginalized and vulnerable youth (and their families) including, but not limited to; eliciting, receiving and sharing information about their interests, concerns and needs.
- Providing information regarding relevant programs, services and opportunities.
- Guiding and facilitating access to programs, services and opportunities that may be of assistance or responsive to articulated needs and requests.
- Enabling positive civic participation in their neighborhood/community.
- Providing direct services and support to youth as needed; which may include transportation support to appointments.
- Helping youth and their support systems set and achieve life goals.
- Developing linkages and maintaining effective working relationships with other community services/agencies to facilitate contacts and services for youth.
- Social Media content development as related to your programming outcomes.
- Carryout administrative work by recording information from shift (ie. recording incidents, making notes of supplies needed, recording phone messages, data tracking for youth participants, etc)
- Attend appropriate and relevant training as directed by Executive Director or Board of Directors
- Any addition tasks as deemed necessary

**Qualifications and Skills**
- Ability to lead programming while managing the dynamics and behaviours of youth participants
- Awareness of activities, topics and events that are interesting to youth
- Experience working in a group setting, delivering workshops, leading physical activity sessions, games and activities that engage participants in a welcoming and accessible manner
- Demonstrated ability to develop good rapport with youth
- Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work positively with groups & individuals
- Demonstrated effective time management skills
- Genuine interest in working with youth of diverse backgrounds
- The ability to multitask
- Applicable post secondary education in a field related to youth, social services or experience and training that would be deemed as an equivalate.

The successful applicant must be client-centered, confident, energetic, adaptable, patient, emotionally self-aware, physically active, and able to safely intervene in crisis situations.
