Reporting to the Vice Dean in the Faculty of Health Studies, the Manager works with leaders across seventeen programs in the faculty to coordinate the provision of simulation-based learning for all students. With a passion for simulation, transformative learning, clinical excellence and learning technology, the Manager has a strong background in best practice for simulation in health education. This person is dedicated to helping our learners acquire the knowledge, skills and competencies required for the challenge of future practice in a health career. This position requires someone who is dependable, organized, and can lead a team in building on strong internal and external relationships. You will bring your designation and experience as a health care professional, as well as your experience as a simulation educator in joining a collaborative team that thrives on energy, motivation, and dedication to the success of both our students and colleagues. **WHAT YOU BRING**: - A Bachelor’s degree (Masters Degree preferred) and a designation and active registration as a healthcare professional (Examples: Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Pharmacist, Physiotherapist, Recreation Therapist, Occupational Therapist) - Strong experience in leading simulation, including evidence-based debriefing, for health education students at the post-secondary level - Recognized certification in simulation best practice preferred - Exceptional technology skills - Outstanding leadership skills: superior communication, organization, collaboration, change management, problem solving, time management team building and facilitation skills are required in this environment - Evidence of a career journey that exemplifies a passion for educational technology and innovation - A philosophy of teaching excellence, interprofessional education, and managerial stewardship - Knowledge and understanding of issues affecting Indigenous people and other equity seeking groups - Ability to work independently, and collaboratively on a team - Minimum of five years teaching experience with previous academic leadership skills preferred. **WHAT MAKES YOU A DIFFERENCE MAKER?** **As a difference maker, you bring**: **Leading a Vision for the Future**: - Champions and implements the vision of the Olson Centre for Health Simulation, maintaining a focus of diversity and inclusion, while ensuring that best practices in simulation are applied. - Leverages stakeholder relationships to assess possible business opportunities and areas for future growth related to simulation education. - Embraces learning about trends, issues, and research in all types of simulation. - Seeks out opportunities to integrate innovation and technology to become a leader in simulation education. - Explores entrepreneurial ways to connect with industry partners. **Best Practice in Operations and Resources**: - Leads the Centre and division in achieving a positive accreditation status for the Olson Centre, including the preparation of a complex self-study report. - Monitors and manages the budget in a fiscally responsible manner. - Implements plans, including the replacement of clinical hours with simulation and establishing remote and virtual opportunities, based on solid knowledge of the principles related to best practices in simulation. - Leads the day-to-day operations of the Centre. - Demonstrates the hands-on and technical knowledge and skills related to implementing hi-fidelity simulation, mixed reality and other technology. - Establishes workshops and initiatives that support programs based on program learning outcomes and stakeholder data. - Collaborates with program leaders and the Centre team to establish/design a schedule that meets the educational needs of programs and the operational needs of the Centre and division. - Coordinates the maintenance, repair and safety aspects of all equipment in the simulation labs. - Develops and reports data regularly, compiling an annual report for the division. **Team Leadership**: - Grows and develops strong teams that support student learning, innovation, and creativity. - Recruits and on-boards interdisciplinary team members. - Creates a system that engages programs and expands the capacity for offering simulation. - Assesses, develops and promotes the ongoing educational needs and performance of the team. - Collaborates with staff to assess and monit
