Cook/housekeeper

JOB DESCRIPTION: The function of this position is to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children in care and perform general housekeeping duties. This position currently works 6.5 hours/day, 5 days per week. Position/Centre is located in Thorold

EDUCATION
- Current Food Handler Certification & Standard First Aid CPR/AED Level

QUALIFICATIONS
- Current Food Handler Certification & Standard First Aid /CPR Level C
- Ability to prepare nutritious meals and snacks for children
- Knowledge of Canada’s Food Guide
- Excellent organizational skills with good interpersonal skills
- Current vulnerable sector checks
- Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle

RESPONSIBILITIES TO:
Parents:

- Work with families informally to discuss food preparation, handling and nutrition

Children:

- Provide healthy, nutritious meals to children
- Plan and Provide healthy snacks
- Interact with children informally regarding the menu

Staff:

- Notify Supervisor as soon as possible of illness
- Work with centre in ‘team approach’
- Report any concerns to Supervisor

ORGANIZATION/CENTRE
- Keep up to date on Canada’s Food Guide and Product recalls
- Grocery shop on behalf of the centre as needed
- Follow all policies of Strive Niagara
- Check equipment on a regular basis to ensure safety
- Notify Supervisor when supplies need replenishing
- Keep work area/centre in a neat, clean and professional manner
- Present yourself as a professional
