BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER - Western Canada
e=mc² events is looking for a Business Development Manager with a proven sales record to join our Calgary team full-time. This role focuses on expanding our market presence and driving financial growth, primarily in Alberta with some market growth in B.C. The Manager will implement strategic plans and execute key tactics to meet revenue targets in these markets.
You are a self-directed, go-getter with a proven record in sales. You are well connected with decision makers and are plugged in to the pulse of the MICE industry. Travel, evening and weekend work is a fun and interesting aspect to this role. You attend events regularly - ours, industry, business - to build relationships in a wide variety of sectors and geographic areas.
Your ability to identify business opportunities, build key customer relationships, negotiate and close business deals are your greatest assets. You have exceptional communication skills and can write creative proposals and pitch dynamic presentations to clients in collaboration with the experience team. Your creativity and sense of fun is professionally packaged; making you welcome and at ease in all business environments.

Position Summary
The Business Development Manager is responsible for improving the company’s market position and achieving financial growth by implementing the strategic plan and delivering tactics to achieve revenue targets.
**Responsibilities**:
- Building key customer relationships, identifying business opportunities, negotiating and closing business deals and maintaining extensive knowledge of current market with a focus on Alberta, followed by the other western provinces.
- Meet quarterly and annual revenue targets and profit margin goals.
- Responsible to attract and retain high-value clients and nurturing client relationships.
- Gather intelligence on customers & clients and competitors, conduct market analysis, and devise strategies for generating new business.
- Identify specific regions, marketing opportunities, and target markets that would welcome the e=mc2 products and services.
- Generate leads and follow through on sales activity to secure the sale
- Write and create proposals in collaboration with internal marketing team
- Respond to RFPs by meeting the specific requirements
- Daily entry of sales activity in Salesforce
- Prepare updates for the weekly BD meetings
- Assist in establishing revenue forecasts and targets.
- Follow the sales policies and processes.
- Attend trade events directly linked to the success of targeted markets and business growth.
- Collaborate on marketing and website decisions to ensure strong sales tools.
- Participate in strategic operational meetings to meet company goals & objectives.
- Uphold the Manager responsibilities as outlined in the company Health & Safety program and policy.
- Travel is required as well as work on weekends and evenings.
Support the Director, Experience & Production (DEP) and Experience team members by managing the client relationship throughout the full business cycle.
- Provide the DEP with full information about the client and scope of work so the proper resources can be allocated.
- Review all project budgets to ensure the appropriate fee for scope of work, and that profit margins are met.
- Attend project kickoff meeting, hold mid-project check in with client & team, attend the project debrief meeting.
- Develops relationships with clients and suppliers as a representative of the brand
Represent the brand and company culture in all interactions.
- Be a role model of company standards and expectations, values and vision.

- Demonstrate integrity, dependability, sound judgment, teambuilding and resourcefulness to establish and maintain collaborative, positive, and effective working relationships with multiple and diverse groups.
Skills and Qualifications
- Ten years of proven experience in business development and sales
- Previous successful sales experience for live event, conference, show program management and production is a strong asset.
- Extensive knowledge and connections of the primary market (Alberta)
- Must be based in Calgary, AB.
- Post-secondary education in Business, Hospitality or related industry
- Proven record of outstanding ability to negotiate
