**About Canucks Autism Network**
Canucks Autism Network (CAN) is a charitable organization dedicated to providing programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families while promoting acceptance and inclusion through community engagement and training initiatives across BC. Our vision is for every individual on the autism spectrum to be understood, accepted and supported in all community spaces.

We engage a workforce of over 200 volunteers and 450 frontline staff to deliver programs for children, youth, and adults on the spectrum in communities across British Columbia. Since its inception in 2008, CAN has directly impacted over 8,000 members on the autism spectrum.

**Position Purpose**
Motivated by CAN’s vision and mission, our event staff are flexible team players with a focus on providing the best guest experience. Event staff create inclusive and welcoming events, including providing information and support for attendees as needed. They are responsible for working as a team to ensure that events run smoothly and that the CAN brand is upheld to the highest standard. They assist in the overall operational aspects of the event, and job duties may change depending on the type of event.

**Position Description**
CAN is dedicated to providing opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families in BC. Throughout the year CAN participates in numerous events;
- **Fundraising Events** - CAN runs signature fundraising events (Reveal Gala, Pro-Am) and attends third-party fundraisers (golf tourneys, BBQs) to thank donors and funders for their support.
- **Community Events** - CAN attends external events organized by our partners or community groups to attract new members, recruit staff and volunteers, and build brand awareness.
- **Family Experiences** - The whole family gets to enjoy a fun activity in the community while connecting with other CAN families
- **Community Engagement Events** - CAN attends external events to support Autistic individuals in the community (Sensory Friendly Spaces, Relaxed Performances, etc.)
- **Youth and Adult Community Events** - CAN attends external community events to share information about our youth and adult programs, services and job/volunteer opportunities with Autistic youth and adults, their families and other service providers (Job fairs, Highschool Transition Events, etc.)

**Key Functions**
- Communicate with guests and members of the public about Canucks Autism Network
- Sell raffle and 50/50 tickets as well as merchandise and/or other fundraising initiatives
- Assist with registration, greet guests as they arrive, and act as the face of the CAN brand
- Manage event volunteers and submit attendance reports and feedback (when required)
- Transport promotional/event materials to and from the CAN office (where applicable)
- Set up and tear down of display, tent, tables, and collateral as needed
- Maintain cleanliness at the location, and uphold safety precautions
- Attend any required trainings
- Meet once a month with the CAN office team (in person or virtual)
- Host sensory friendly spaces at community events (where applicable)
- Provide some support to those who are overwhelmed (i.e., asking what you can do to help, offering headphones, etc.) (where applicable)
- Occasionally mentor coaches at Training and Try It events (where applicable)

**Requirements**:
Education and Experience
- Customer service and fundraising experience an asset
- At minimum a High School Diploma (Dogwood Diploma or Evergreen Certificate)
- A valid driver’s license with access to a vehicle and/or drive the CAN van
- Experience working at or coordinating community events is an asset
- Experience with CAN’s programs/training team is an asset

- Willing to stay well informed about CAN’s opportunities (programs, services, events) by attending periodic training
- Flexible, self-motivated, passionate, reliable, empathetic, fun, and approachable
- Professional attitude and appearance
- Confident in communicating with the general public, clients, and vendors
- Willing to assist with tasks and identify areas where assistance may be needed
- Multitask and problem-solve while in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail, aware of the guest’s experience
- Ability to adapt - specific job duties may vary from event to event
- Ability to lift a minimum of 35lbs and stand for prolonged periods of time (where applicable)
- A good understanding of the English language
- Willingness to travel around
