**Primary Purpose**
Reporting directly to the Vice President Academic (VPA), the Associate Vice President Academic (AVPA) is a strategic and collaborative academic leader who advances the academic priorities of the university and oversees highly significant and complex administrative processes. The AVPA serves as the Acting Vice President Academic in the absence of the VPA.
The AVPA has broad responsibilities for the academic operations of the University that include academic program development, sustainable enrolment management, academic support services and related policies and procedures, and program quality assurance. The AVPA is expected to work closely and in partnership with the leads in other portfolios, including the Registrar, Faculty Relations, Student Services, Institutional Accountability, and IT.
Other key areas of responsibility include: the development and oversight of strategic partnerships, credit transfer and articulation, internationalization efforts including the internationalization of the curriculum, semesters abroad and exchanges, curriculum innovation, the enhancement of educational support to faculty, staff and students, academic advising and counselling, the promotion of academic Indigenous, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion initiatives and on-line program offerings both credit and non-credit bearing.
The AVPA will have direct supervisory responsibility for the Innovation Hub, the University Access Program (UAP), and shared responsibility for Career Services. There will be the opportunity for the AVPA to work on strategic projects as directed by the VPA or ones that they identify.
