**The Opportunity**:
This management position is responsible for overseeing the maintenance of assigned City owned buildings and facilities to meet the functional demands of user groups and to manage the operational needs of facility representatives from various City Departments. Responsible for leadership and supervision of the operational activities of both the building maintenance and custodial services groups and provide maintenance programming direction and maintenance contract administration to the building representatives. Responsible for the development and implementation of infrastructure management programs to ensure sustainability of the assigned City buildings and constructed area improvements. Provide leadership and supports to facility maintenance staff in developing building maintenance strategies to meet the functional and administrative requirements of comprehensive asset management plans developed within each of the assigned buildings.
- Project management and leadership certification are considered assets.
- Minimum four years of experience in building and maintenance repair work, which must include preventative maintenance program planning for facilities.
- Minimum four years of supervision and leadership experience.
- Knowledge and ability to provide effective leadership to a diverse team who work independently in many locations.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment in establishing a positive team culture which upholds the City of Red Deer RISE values (Respect, Integrity, Service and Excellence).
- Knowledge of construction contract document preparation and administration including scheduling.
- Knowledge and understanding of the principles of facility management, operations and maintenance including life cycle cost analysis.
- A record of accomplishment managing a significant unionized work force, responsible for the maintenance of a complex building.
- Possesses knowledge as a ‘technical generalist’ in architectural and structural disciplines, in-depth knowledge of complex building systems is considered an asset.
- Ability to use a computer to perform data input, analysis, and scheduling.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems relative to building operations.
- Ability to work independently and provide work direction to staff.
- Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the methods, tools, equipment, materials, and work practices used in the construction and maintenance of facilities.
- Action and detail oriented; has the ability to set priorities, support staff effectively, while handling a broad range of projects and issues; manages time well. Organized and able to differentiate between priorities with time sensitivity and/or political ramifications and those which do not require immediate review and action.
- Ability to be on call for building related emergencies.
- Ability to utilize computerized Building Automation System (BAS) software.
- Valid Alberta Driver's License, Class 5
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

**Affiliation**:
Exempt

**Remuneration**:
$44.66 to $55.83 per hour.

**Hours of Work**:
80 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
