Construction Superintendent

Position Overview

As a Superintendent working in our construction department, you will work closely with our clients and provide a range of construction management services on site throughout the construction phase, and post construction phase. As a Superintendent at Spire Construction you will be required to be knowledgeable in different types of construction and able to analyze items from multiple perspectives. As a member of the construction department your ability to work cohesively with your team.

Spire Construction is actively involved in projects for commercial, light industrial, and multi-family construction up to $60 million.

Qualifications & Competencies

Education
- Min post-Secondary Education Technical Diploma, Trade Journeyman background, or On-site Experience as a Superintendent.
- Working knowledge of construction drawings, documents, and specifications.

Experience
- Minimum 5 years of Superintendent experience in construction.
- Experience managing construction projects in Institutional, commercial, or residential.

Technical Skills
- Supervise construction activities to ensure compliance with drawings, and specifications.
- Proficient working with construction management software such as Sitemax or similar.
- Assist in the preparation of the project schedules.
- Proficient in constructing accurate and detailed 4 week schedules and updating them weekly.
- Responsible for accurate and complete review of drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFI’s.
- Provide feedback on the building design, scheduling, possible cost savings measures and potential construction problems.
- Review, provide input, and manage the general conditions budget on site. Control and monitor labour, material, and equipment expenses.
- Assemble and maintain the job site office and equipment requirements.
- Have confidence in own ability to proficiently communicate with design team/client as well as effectively lead the trades.
- Contact, schedule, and coordinate all subcontractors, suppliers, and utilities.
- Monitor, maintain, and provide feedback to project manager on project construction schedule on a weekly basis.
- Inform the Project Manager of any errors, discrepancies or omissions contained within the Consultant’s design drawings and specifications.
- Oversee the Health and Safety program on site and ensure that the requirements of WorkSafe BC and the Occupational Health and Safety Act are enforced.
- Maintain and enforce a high level of construction standard and quality control.
- Coordinate all required testing, municipal inspections, and consultant inspections.
- Prepare and expedite project deficiency lists.
- Maintain a neat and tidy site office, first aid facility, and meeting room.
- Chair and maintain meeting minutes for weekly sub trade meetings.
- Proficient in reviewing subcontract and purchase agreements and ability to verify if additional claims are legitimate.

Pay: $100,000.00-$140,000.00 per year
