**Description**
- Reporting to the Recreation Coordinator, the animator is responsible for the development and implementation of socio-recreational programs.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Ensure the safety and well-being for a group of 10 - 20 children between the ages of 6 - 12.
- Research and develop age-appropriate, culturally-relevant and thematic

socio-recreational curriculums.
- Animate socio-recreational activities in relation to curriculum goals and participant needs.
- Develop children’s social developmental skills and promote positive individual/group behavior.
- Intervene effectively in conflict situations.
- Ensure positive and professional relationships with Tyndale staff, parents, children and volunteers.
- Supervise, support and integrate volunteers and interns during programs.
- Efficiently complete all administrative tasks assigned with respect to deadlines.
- Be prepared for and actively participate in supervisory and staff meetings.
- Ensure the equipment, materials and supplies are properly used and stored.
- Help prepare/serve snack during programs.
- Implement and respect code of conduct, rules, policies and procedures.

**Qualifications**:

- CEGEP in a related field or relevant experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in child animation and program planning
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of issues facing children in marginalized communities
- Strong understanding of and ability to support child development
- Strong organizational skills, communication, able to multi-task and strong time management.
- Ability to communicate in English is required. Ability to speak French is an asset.

**Job Conditions**:

- $18.00 /hour for 18.5 hrs /week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 2:30pm-6pm. Thursday - 1:30-6:00pm)
